The choice of a running mate has been a difficult one. In selecting a running mate, I looked for someone who is both dedicated and hard-working. A Vice Presidential candidate must be competent, well-respected, and able to help the President lead the country. After careful deliberation, I have made my decision.

The individual whom I have selected possesses all of these qualities. I believe that he is eminently suitable for the Vice Presidency.

I am delighted to present to you my running mate, and, I hope, my successor as Vice President:

My fellow Atlasians,

Thank you, Mr. Vice President, for this honor you have bestowed upon me, as well as the confidence you have shown in me.

I stand before you all today a candidate for Vice President of the Republic of Atlasia.  But why should you support the Emsworth-Q ticket?

Atlasia needs a team of consensus-builders who will pursue practical benefit for the nation.  We need leaders who work for the people, who do the people’s business, and who refuse to split us apart over any difference in opinion.

Vice President Emsworth has aptly met this definition of a leader as he has run the Senate with a pragmatic and steady hand, and I hope to follow his example as an active President of the Senate.

But this campaign is not about the Vice President, and it is not about me.  It is about this great nation of ours, and our promise to the next generation that will inherit the world we’re working to build at this time in this place.

To ensure our safety while increasing our freedom should be the principal mission of government.

I believe in the virtues of a less obtrusive government and lower taxes to complement that role.  I also believe that government can lend a helping hand as just one component of a compassionate society.  Those two visions are not incompatible.  I believe that government has a unique means to help its citizens, and that we in turn have the obligation to regulate that power and use it only for the greatest common benefit.

That Atlasian dream that my great-grandparents came to this country seeking has not died with them.  Our nation has and will continue to embrace individuals of diverse qualities and backgrounds, whether immigrants or migrants, who aspire to a better life.  People of every culture on earth and every possible mindset have arrived on Atlasian shores. We must live up to the ideals on which our great nation was founded and enable each of our citizens realize his or her aspirations and to make the Atlasian Dream a reality.

This is a time when we must not focus on our petty differences, but on what unites us.  No matter what state, what party, or what outlook we have, we are all Atlasians, and we must have the vision to focus on the things that will ensure the liberty of each of our citizens.
