JOHN KASICH DROPS OUT (Endorses Lamar Alexander)

Woodruff: "The races are now almost finalized with Lamar Alexander now being in a big lead after winning 371 Delegates tonight and going to 611 Delegates in Total. Bob Smith has gained 144 Delegates tonight and is at 162 Delegates in Total. For Kasich, it was humiliating as he only gained 59 Delegates tonight and is at 106 Delegates in Total, which could be a big reason why he dropped out. For the Democrats, Al Gore has gained 1155 Delegates Tonight and currently stands at 1299 Delegates in Total, only 871 Delegates away from the Nomination while Lamar Alexander is 423 Delegates from the Nomination and Smith is 872 Delegates away from the Nomination. Currently, Bob Smith is trailing Alexander by 15 points and needs to do something radical to win over enough states, something that will be hard for him.

Just for your information, while it is effectively 2170 delegates that a Democrat needed to win the nomination at that time, it wasn't 2172 but 1034 delegates that a Republican candidate needed to win the nomination in 2000. You can look this the link below.

Lamar Alexander Super Tuesday Victory Speech

Thank you, my friends. Thank you very much.

Thanks to your efforts and to the trust and the faith you put in me, we are about to unite this party and to cross the finish line by getting to the 1034 delegate threshold needed to win the nomination and to start the campaign to defeat Al Gore and to bring America back in the right direction for the 21st century.

We have no choice but to get this election right as our country is facing a drastic rise of the size of government who is punishing success and hardworking by taking money out of the pockets of hardworking families through higher taxes and regulations and as our country is facing a rise of the national security threat represented by terrorism. When I'll become President of the United States, we will have so much hard work to do such as reforming our education system in order to make it accessible for all Americans and to make sure that every student succeeds and has a fair chance to find a good-paying job. We will reduce taxes for all Americans and for all businesses, including small businesses, in order to encourage job creation and to make America the best place in the world to do business. That way, we will ensure the continuation of America's prosperity and help our country to get to full-employment. And we will work hard to rebuild our military that has been gutted by this administration in the last 8 years because that is the best way to defend our country against any threat and to defeat Al Qaida and international terrorism.

So my friends, let's focus our efforts on mini Super Tuesday states in order to make me the Republican nomineee and to start this journey to make America strong again.

Thank you. God bless you and God bless America.

John Kasich's withdrawal speech

Thank you.

I am proud of the campaign we have led but now that we have won only Ohio on Super Tuesday and that we hoped for a strong performance, there is no decent chance for me to win this race and in this time of big government and terrorist threat facing our country, the last thing we need is a fractured party. For this reason, I'm suspending my campaign. After 12 years of big government, time has come for change. Time has come for a real conservative to lead this party and to reduce the size of government through the promotion of free market and through tax cuts for all Americans and all businesses. That's why I give my endorsement to Lamar Alexander because he is the one who will bring this change America desperately needs. He is the reformer we need to lead America for the 21st century.

As president, he will reduce the size of government, promote tax reform for the sake of this economy, get our country to energy independence, reform our education system, keep our military strong and defend America against any national security threat seeking to harm this country. After 12 years of big government, time has

So my fellow Americans, let's stand with Lamar Alexander in order to beat Al Gore and to fix America once and for all.

Thank you. God bless Ohio. God bless you and God bless America.

IN THE NEWS

Bob Smith announces Florida Senator Connie Mack III to be Running Mate in one last ditch effort to create a brokered convention

"After the Results that were Super Tuesday, New Hampshire Senator Bob Smith has announced that his friend Connie Mack III will be his running mate in order to force a brokered convention between him and Lamar Alexander. This is a last ditch effort and it's very likely the New Hampshire Senator will have no choice but to withdrawal in a week when Florida likely goes to Alexander and he wins all States between Super Tuesday and Illinois' primary."

Alexander's Education Speech in Denver, Colorado

My priority in education will be to make sure that every student succeeds. My plan will leave significantly more control to the states and districts in determining the standards students are held to. States will be required to submit their goals and standards and how they plan to achieve them to the US Department of Education, which must then submit additional feedback, and eventually approve. In doing so, the Department of Education will still hold states accountable by ensuring they are implementing complete and ambitious, yet feasible goals. Students will then be tested each year from third through eighth grade and then once again their junior year of high school. These standardized tests will determine each student's capabilities in the classroom, and the success of the state in implementing its plans. The states will also be left to determine the consequences low-performing schools might face and how they will be supported in the following years. The Department of Education will define low-performing schools as those in the bottom ten percent of the state, based on the number of students who successfully graduate or the number of students who test proficient in reading or language arts and mathematics. Another primary goal of my plan will be to prepare all students, regardless of race, income, disability, ethnicity, or proficiency in English, for a successful college experience and fulfilling career. Therefore, it will also require schools to offer college and career counseling and advanced placement courses to all students.

Campaign event with Colorado Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell in Grand Junction, Colorado

Just like it was an honor to serve my country in the Korean War, it is now an honor for me to endorse Lamar Alexander to be the 43rd President of the United States. In this race, he is the only one who understands the foreign policy reality. We have been attacked in New York City seven years ago with the World Trade Center bombing, a genocide has been committed in Rwanda, we are facing a North Korea seeking to develop nuclear weapons to shake up stability in the Pacific and our embassies in Africa were attacked by Al Qaida in 1998. Despite this reality, the Clinton Administration did not have the courage to keep our military strong and to take action against these threats. But Alexander will take these threats seriously and that's why he will, as president, rebuild our military, strengthen our alliances and go after Al Qaida. Under his leadership, America will be safe again. And that's why I call on you to give your vote to Lamar Alexander on March 10. Thank you. God bless you. God bless Colorado and God bless America.

Alexander's Economic Policy Speech in Salt Lake City, Utah

Al Gore's tax plan is a job killer will increase the size of government dramatically. His plan is three times larger than President Clinton's proposed plan eight years ago and that will create 20 000 new bureaucrats. That's not what America needs to pursue its prosperity. What the American people needs is jobs. And that requires tax cuts for all the American people and businesses, small government, reduction of wasteful government spending, energy independence, free trade and education reform and investment into infrastructures in order to ensure the development of new infrastructures to encourage the implementation of new businesses here in America, thus favoring further job creation. That way, we can get to full employment and keep our economy strong.

Campaign Event with Utah Senator Orrin Hatch in St. George, Utah

As you saw in the polls, Governor Alexander is our best chance to win the White House. He is conservative enough to unite and mobilize this party and he has the best plan to reform our education system, to grow our economy and to keep us safe. Every single vote counts so I call on you to go to the polls tommorrow and on Election Day to make sure we'll elect Lamar Alexander the 43rd President of the United States for the sake of real leadership for the 21st century.

Rally in Cheyenne, Wyoming with Wyoming Senator Mike Enzi

Wyoming is one of the nation's largest energy producers. So we have a great role to play in our quest to energy independence. But sadly, Al Gore and Bob Smith have something in common : they both oppose oil production. They both opposed drilling in ANWR, a strategic area for our path to energy independence abundant in oil resources. Their plan will keep assaulting our energy industry through higher regulations and taxes that will hurt our economy and our jobs. That's why my endorsement goes to Governor Alexander because unlike the two other major candidates for president, he will drill in ANWR and he will work to take advantage of all of America's own sources of energy, including oil, coal, gas, solar, wind, nuclear and hydroelectricity. He will use a part of the revenues from drilling in ANWR into the development of renewable energies for a stronger economy and a more ecological environment. That is a much more responsible plan than doing it with taxpayers' money. So in order to make sure America will be energy independent and energy dominant, vote for Lamar Alexander tonight.

Agriculture Policy Speech in Pinedale, Wyoming

If we want to grow our agricultural industry, we need to reduce our agricultural businesses' fiscal burden in order to increase their competitiveness and their ability to create jobs and to develop new agricultural technologies, to produce more seeds and more tractors, thus increasing our people's access to food and reducing their dependency on food stamps. That's why I will put America's hardworking families, including farmers, first and reduce the size of government and make sure that the government won't stand in the way of more jobs, more productivity and that's why I trust free enterprise.

Campaign event with Florida Governor Jeb Bush in Miami

Hello everybody. The day after tommorrow will be a decisive day in the process in determining who will be the next president of the United States. Under my governorship, my "A+ Plan" established heightened standards, required testing of all students, and graded all Florida schools. As a result, we are drastically progressing in reading scores of 4th grade students in Florida on the National Assessment of Educational Progress. Lamar Alexander's education plan will grant power to the states will help this country to make much more progress and make sure that every single student succeeds.

I know from my experience as Secretary of Commerce of Florida that America's prosperity depends, notably, on free trade and from the quest for open markets around the world. As Governor of Tennessee, Lamar Alexander managed to recruit international investments and to help Tennessee to join the world by increasing this state's sales of its products. Thanks to lower tariffs and to the expansion of free trade, America will secure its prosperity thanks to stronger American competitiveness in the world economy.

So now time has come for us to bring Lamar Alexander over the top to secure this nomination in two days to start the campaign for America's rise and in order to fix America.

Thank you. God bless Florida and God bless the United States of America.

Lamar Alexander's Victory Speech in Chicago, Illinois

Thank you. Thank you so much, my friends.

Thanks to your contributions to this campaign, we went that far just like every single American should have a fair and decent chance to go far in order to have a fair and prosperous life. And thanks to your efforts and your strong turnout, I now have enough delegates to be the Republican nominee for President of the United States.

We are now over the top and time has come for our party to work together to win the White House on November. We have already started the work because we just learned a few moments ago that Senator Smith has suspended his campaign and gave us his endorsement. We are now a united party and now we can start the campaign to make sure that the 21st century during which we will make America strong again.

And we will do so by reducing taxes and regulations for all Americans, including the middle class, in order to reinforce our people's purchasing power and to make America the best place in the world to do business just like I did in Tennessee. Because that is required for America's prosperity. We will do so by taking advantage of all of our sources of energy, by encouraging free trade, reforming our education system and by keeping our budget balanced.

In the last few years, this administration has failed to lead and to keep America safe like we saw during the World Trade Center bombing in 1993, the failure of our military operation in Somalia, the Rwandan genocide in 1994 and the attacks by Al Qaida on our embassies in Africa in 1998. So time has come for new leadership, strong leadership for the sake of our national security. And that requires a stronger and modernized U.S. military, strong alliances, strong diplomacy and use of our arsenal to keep our nation safe and to defeat terrorism. These are all elements of my agenda and that's why I am the best candidate in this race to become the leader of the free world and to face all the threats facing our country.

I intend to be President for all Americans because only together we can overcome our challenges. So I'm asking for your support in order to bring real change to this country, change that will bring prosperity, security, unity, justice and integrity back to this country once and for all because that's how we're going to make America strong again.

Thank you. God bless you and God bless America.

Bob Smith's Concession Speech

Thank you. Thank you folks.

I'm so proud of our campaign and how far we went in this primary season. And I am proud of you, of your support and all of your contributions to this campaign. But our party has selected a different direction and I respect their choice and I congratulate Governor Alexander for securing our party's nomination. For this reason, I suspend my campaign and give my endorsement to Lamar Alexander.

He is the only one who can bring change to this country. The election of Al Gore at the White House would mean the continuation of status quo, including bigger government that punishes your hard working by taking your money from you, deeper dependence on foreign energy, deeper corruption and deeper national insecurity while we are facing increasing terrorist threat.

We can't afford four more years like this. As president, Lamar Alexander will fix our problems. He will encourage tax reform, energy independence, free and fair trade, education reform and fiscal responsibility for the sake of a strong economy. He will work to reinforce and modernize our military and our national security measures to make sure that we can defeat terrorism as well as all the foreign policy threats facing this country, that we keep America safe and that our children can grow up in a free and peaceful world. If we want peace, we have to be ready for war. That way, we can make the 21st century a century of peace and stability.

So in order to allow America to prevail and to preserve America's greatness, let's stand with Lamar Alexander, the next President of the United States.

Thank you. God bless you all and God bless the United States of America.
