The Washington Post reported FEC filings that show the RNC has put $281,250 into door-to-door canvassing efforts in Arizona's 8th District, which was most recently held by former GOP Rep. Trent Franks.

I wonder how poorly their polling looks right now? I struggle to see how the Democrat wins here, but I imagine it won't be a pretty margin for the Republicans.

I'm pretty sure Lesko wins this by no less than 8, and I'd expect the margin to actually be 10-12, but I don't mind the GOP wasting money on safe seats.

"Republican candidate Debbie Lesko currently leads her Democratic challenger Hiral Tipirneni by about 14 points, according to internal polling released by Tipirneni's campaign."

Maybe they want to make it look competitive so that they can play the narrative: "We won a hard-fought, competitive race, so that proves that things are turning around and the blue wave is dead!"

Yeah, I think this was Arpaio's best district of the 5 that are fully in Maricopa County (5, 6, 7, 8, & 9), if I remember correctly.

That tactic worked like a charm in PA-18.

Per Miles, Arpaio won this district by 5 points even as he was getting blown out in the rest of the county. If this race is within single digits when all is said and done, the NRSC might as well just triage Arizona.

Yeah, it's very unlikely that Tipinerni gets close if America's Sheriff won this place.

Well, it worked in KS-04, MT, and GA-06

Why are Republicans bothering to defend these seats as it would be expensive to try to hold them?

I guess they figure that if $281,250 allows them to win this seat, they will get more than $281,250 from donors as a result of winning this election compared to if they didn't.

GA was a legitimately close election and KS wasn't on the radar until too late.
