These negotations have been going on since last year.

I believe NATO membership for these 2 allies would be mutually beneficial.

Maltas current budget already meets the 2% requirement for membership status, it is democratic, and it is located in a very strategic location in the Mediterranean. That would give NATO guaranteed naval stations. Malta would boost our ability to protect our ships in the Mediterranean. we can operate out of the existing British base but bring in more money for their local economy all while having a fixed drone base to check up on pirates and AQIM.

The administration believes it would be in the collective security interest of NATO if the Bahamas were granted member status in our organization. Its current budget already meets the 2% requirement for membership status, it is democratic, and it is located in a very strategic location in the Atlantic. That would give NATO guaranteed naval stations in the northern Caribbean if say Puerto Rico ever declared independence or a mob overruns the tiny outposts in St. Martin or Guadeloupe. We are considering selling a few of our older naval vessels to them to assist with their patrols. This will hopefully allow for Bahamian assistance the next time a cruise ship in the area (often with international citizens from many member nations) gets hijacked or pirated. Additionally, it would guarantee our collective navies free and safe passage over a lot more ocean. Naval dominance is a must for maintaining the current balance of power for NATO. Our ability to quickly transport aircraft, soldiers, equipment and missiles across the 70% of the Earth that bottlenecks our ground forces is more than just a force multiplier, it IS a strategy. The more ocean we effectively control, the safer we are. If the Bahamas were admitted, we gain 200 miles of ocean in all directions from any of its islands, right on our frontier.

I have spoken with Malta, the Bahamas, and the Sec. Gen of NATO and everyone else is on board. Because of its strategic value, Atlasia wants to help its friends join NATO.

Since both nations are meeting the 2% requirement, as well as the fact that they're both Democracies, I see no reason why they shouldn't join NATO, and will support this treaty.

I've been a fan of NATO expansion for months, actually. Both nations are certainly of key strategic interest and responsible government, and so I endorse this inclusion wholeheartedly. I very much disagree with the Secretary of State on several matters, but on this I strongly congratulate him.

I will absolutely support this legislation, for the reasons stated above. These nations meet the requirements for membership and them being members of NATO would strengthen the organization and be beneficial for all.

It would be great to see new NATO member states, especially since they are so enthused to join. I believe Malta and the Bahamas are two states whose reputation is by far good enough to be allies with us. Them being members would be mutually beneficial to both the respective states, and NATO. I’ll be a strong aye on this bill!
