Voters in California still support Feinstein. Notice that it's mostly just white liberals who don't like Feinstein.

Far leftists just hate Feinstein. Feinstein couldn't be more popular as senator cross demographics. Even Republicans are fine with having her as senator.

Thanks for proving why Feinstein is terrible.

Feinstein doesn't tow the far-left line. That's perfectly reasonable even if they sometimes came be poor decisions that can merit fair criticism such as her Iraq War vote.

When her California colleague is one of the most liberal senators in the country and gets attacked by the left for being too centrist you realize they have a structurally problem.  They don't gasp that politics is serious business, that you aren't going to get your way just as a child will be denied at points to not do something because his parents said so. Why does one negative contradict all of the good someone like Feinstein has done for Cali and America?

Of course she isn't a far leftist. Only anarchists and communists are.

But as we should expect from a centrist hack like you, you don't actually care about using the term properly and are just using it to mean "political positions I don't like."

So since politics is a serious business, senators shouldn't be held accountable for basically being useless when considered she's in an uber safe seat? You win some races and you lose some but that's not a good reason for activists to not try to get the most left wing senate possible. Give valid reasons for a Democrat like myself to vote./support for Feinstein over KDL to back up your claim that she's done a lot of good. Voting somewhat left wing in a polarizing right wing congress does not count.

People like you don't treat politics like serious business. They treat politics like a game where playing by muh rules is more important than actually achieving meaningful change. People like you are the reason why everybody hates politics. Say what you want about the Republicans' amoral cynicism, but at least they actually want to enact meaningful policy change.

Tony came back and immediately coarsened the discourse on a race that Feinstein was always gonna win, and insists on proving horseshoe theory lol. Sad really.

For the gazillionth time...

NO ONE KNOWS WHO DE LEON IS.

And most people just consider Feinstein to be "Generic Democrat", and don't have a problem with that.

That’s true. Not even Kevin’s wife knows who he is. She also voted for Feinstein.

If I were a California voter, I would probably vote for Feinstein, just to maintain the status quo. De Leon seems too far left for me, and although I would rather Feinstein retire, due to her age, I also don't think De Leon would be a suitable replacement.

There actually isn't so much love for de Leon on the hard left. If Feinstein decided to retire, with Delaine Eastin in the runoff against de Leon, the hard left would dump de Leon in a heartbeat.

Was the hard left 56% of the electorate statewide in 1994?

Feinstein is still popular. Polls clearly show Californians still want Feinstein. The hard left not only hates Feinstein, but also Kamala Harris, Gavin Newsom, and John Chiang too. Newsom and Harris are also very popular.

If Feinstein decided to retire Schiff would have been a formidable candidate for replacement. Very strong policy credentials, with being one of the leaders backing the Russia investigation, which will rally up the Democratic base.

*raises hand*

California is one of the most unequal States and there's little political will to do anything about it. Friggin' San Francisco elected a mayor whose answer to the homelessness crisis is "let's hire more cops to rough'em up". The idea that we're a "fiscally liberal" State (in the ridiculous American vulgate, at least) is patently absurd.

And California already had the highest cost of living adjusted poverty rate a couple of years ago. I'm sure that's gotten worse. We have somewhere around half of unsheltered homeless of the entire country. That's 68% of out of 134k homeless in California vs about 30% of 550k for the whole country. California has huge problems that I'm sure that the mayor who bragged about their George Schultz endorsement won't make any better.

I mean, he needs something against Feinstein. She's just to dang entrenched. She should just retire at her age, but it seems like she wants to be a lifer.

Very few people in the state know what ICE is. It’s not like Feinstein is going to go around slamming KDL for this and claiming he’s for open borders like a GOPer would in a GE.

ICE is totally up Feinstein's alley, since she's pro mass incarceration. She opposed Prop 47 that even Newt Gingrich supported.

KDL is in favor of abolishing ICE? He should abolish his senatorial aspirations when Governor Newsom appoints Feinstein’s replacement.

The only thing that’s gonna burn more is when your boy Kevin loses spectacularly in November.

wow it's almost as if winning or losing is more important to you than right and wrong because you're a soulless creep for whom politics is a f**king game
