What's the appeal of voting for Dianne Feinstein?
Because most California democrats don't know better and would vote for a massive DINO over an "unknown" progressive candidate.
Feinstein is very far-left and one of the more progressive senate democrats. Can't imagine why you think she's a moderate "DINO."

If Feinstein is "far left" I'd love to know what you think people like Jayapal or Merkley are...

Heck even Sherrod Brown is more left wing than Feinstein.
She wants a blanket gun ban and wants all civilian-owned guns confiscated; I call that pretty far-left. It's really sad that anyone in the modern Democratic Party who isn't a self-professed Marxist is considered a "centrist" or "DINO." This party has really become unhinged since 2016.
I'm afraid that the damage Bernie Sanders inflicted by normalizing Marxism and bringing it into the mainstream is irreversible.
Bernie Sanders is not a Marxist. Also, Marx was pro-gun.
This is False.
Socialism = Marxism.
Coerced redistribution of wealth = Marxism.

By that definition, every major country on Earth to some extent or another is a marxist one.

If Bernie Sanders is a marxist, every other developed country in the world is also marxist.

Hint: You can disagree with Bernie Sanders without using hyperbole.

I held my nose and voted for establishment Hillary supporter de Leon because the wartime profiteer who voted for the Bush tax cuts needs to go.

Your shtick is getting old.

How dare I criticize a wartime profiteer who raised a confederate flag in San Francisco. She's obviously what the Democratic party needs today.

Can I give you some advice? I agree with you that Feinstein needs to go but you come off as whiny and when you throw out nonsense words like "neoliberal, wartime profiteer" etc, it's off-putting and probably makes people more pro-Feinstein than normal. You need to be more effective in how you argue your point. Try arguing how Feinstein is out of touch and California needs fresh blood. I guarantee that will resonate better than "blah blah neoliberal"

For me personally, I support de Leon over Feinstein. I think Feinstein's overall voting record is "ok" but California can certainly do better. More importantly, I am uncomfortable with an 84 year old hogging the seat in a state like California where there are a lot of talented candidates that get bottle-necked out. Having watched some of her hearings recently (like when Comey testified before congress), she did not come off as sharp, to say the least. We're in a strange new era and this strange new era requires younger candidates. There's an unwillingness by current Dem leadership to pass the torch to the next generation and it's a massive strategic mistake. Feinstein is indicative of that.

To play devil's advocate, seniority is still quite important in the senate and it probably isn't wise to roll over from two senior senators to two freshmen.

For me, I ended up voting for Feinstein (I liked how she released the Fusion GPS transcripts) for the primary hoping that De Leon wouldn't make it so that Dem and Dem-affiliated groups didn't waste their money on CA-Sen when they could use it on house races, for example. I might end up voting for De Leon in the general. We'll have to see.

It's not nonsense. Her husband got some pretty sweet Iraq war contracts after she voted for it.

And she did have a confederate flag be raised.

FiveThirtyEight has a good article on why Feinstein will still be reelected. https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/california-has-left-dianne-feinsteins-moderation-behind-but-not-dianne-feinstein/

I support Kevin and I doubt he'll win but he's already pushing her left I hope he runs for something after this.

De Leon surprisingly lost Imperial County in the primary. Villaraigosa and Ed Hernandez easily won Imperial.

De Leon knew that he couldn't win this race when he entered. His goal is to keep some name recognition so he can run for something in the future (probably Roybal Allard's seat when she eventually retires).

He lost his own Senate District. That's more significant than Imperial County, IMO

California is such a forward-thinking state, it's going to have a 90-year-old dinosaur, who once tried to suppress black efforts to remove a Confederate flag from an SF civic center, in the Senate.  And wants to ban kratom.

I bet many Atlas Democrats frequently call Feinstein the c-word and would rather vote for Patrick Little.

You see, wealthy techies in Paulo Alto will see Diane Feinstein's name on the ballot and immediately vote for her, basking in the euphoria of #consensuspolitics

That is a very bad sign. Candidates who lose their own state or district are definitely not the best candidates. What are the predictions here as to how the Feinstein vs. De Leon race will look like in November? Will California Republicans who don't leave their Senate spot on the ballot blank back Feinstein, because she is the entrenched incumbent and more to the center? And are there any counties that De Leon might have a chance of winning?

De Leon could win Imperial or Humboldt, though not guaranteed. My Republican relatives will all vote for Feinstein.

Cox will definitively do better than De Leon, though both will lose by 20+ points. Shame, I like De Leon.

I see. Why are Californians so invested in Feinstein, if I may ask? She is 85 years old, and has been in the Senate for more than a quarter of a century. Is seniority really more important than having someone who reflects your state's political stances?

Feinstein is still popular in California. Only a vocal minority of Democrats oppose Feinstein.

John Cox will outrun De Leon at this rate. Cox at least could get 30-35% of the vote. I’m not even sure De Leon could get to 30% given he lost his own 67% Latino district and is losing Imperial right now 2-1 to DiFi.

Dear Lord De Leon...
Loretta Sanchez won her House district and Imperial in both the primary and runoff. De Leon failed to break 15% and nearly lost the primary to James Bradley.
