Abstain, for much the same reasons as have already been said.

Given that there are five abstentions, it's now impossible for there to be a quorum, which means this bill fails by default.

Not necessarily, Senator. "A quorum of Senators shall have voted on any Resolution, Bill, Impeachment or Constitutional Amendment for it to be considered valid." If a majority of Senators have voted (aye, no, or abstain), then the quorum rules would be met.

Um, how gratifying to have a bill pass with three votes.

^^^^^

Could one of the abstaining Senators please change their vote to nay, as this bill will only make things more complicated.

I remember the bill that passed something like 3-1-6 during PBrunsel's Presidency. I think it was Bono's Marijuana legalisation bill; At my urging (as Attorney General) it was considered to have passed. It was subsequently vetoed, and since abstains are equivalent to nays in override votes, the override attempt failed.

So it's like this if I counted correctly:

3 Aye
1 Nay
5 Abstain

So it's all up to what PBrunsel does.

The bill has enough votes to pass; Senators have 24 hours to vote or change their votes.

There have voted:
Aye: 4
No: 5
Abstain: 1

The bill accordingly fails.

This was sort of like something that happens to me a lot: if I think I don't care, I'll flip a coin and see what the result is; if I don't like the result, I'll go with the other one. Tongue
