The number is their number as POTUS (1-45)
you can vote all 10 up or down and 2 more votes if you think there were others you approve of

Mine:

1, 2, and 3 are in some order Washington, Lincoln, and FDR. A matter of taste, but the conventional top 3.

4 and 5 are our top two peacetime Presidents -- Jefferson and T R.

6 -- Truman gets this for dealing with the loose ends of WWII, setting up the postwar response to Communism, and making sure that America's response in victory was mercy instead of revenge.

7. James Knox Polk gets credit for annexing the southwestern quadrant of the USA.

8. Eisenhower. Getting America out of the Korean war gracefully, putting law against political advantage, letting Joseph R. McCarthy implode, and sponsoring the Interstate Highway System.

9. Barack Obama. The next great conservative President will behave much like him.

10. Wilson -- excellent conduct of American involvement in WWI. Fault: racism.

Exact order is somewhat malleable, so I'm putting gaps to separate out clear levels within my top ten:

1. Abraham Lincoln
2. Franklin Roosevelt

3. Theodore Roosevelt
4. George Washington
5. James Madison

6. Lyndon Johnson (Civil rights and Medicare far outweigh Vietnam)
7. Dwight Eisenhower
8. Thomas Jefferson
9. John Adams
10. James Monroe

Could potentially see Obama in the lower half of the top 10 at some point, but not ready to put him up there yet. I still need more time to see how durable his accomplishments prove to be.

Also putting this here

Most overrated: Andrew Jackson
Most underrated: William Howard Taft

Madison’s presidency was a disaster.

1. Lincoln
2. Washington
3. Teddy Roosevelt
4. FDR
5. Eisenhower
6. Jefferson
7. Truman
8. Reagan
9. Polk
10. Monroe or Clinton

Beyond the top 3, the ranking might be a little out of order:

1. FDR
2. Lincoln
3. Washington
4. Truman
5. T. Roosevelt
6. Eisenhower
7. Monroe
8. Madison
9. Jefferson
10. Polk

Most Overrated: tie between JFK and Reagan
Most Underrated: Ford, HW Bush, LBJ (at least by the Public)
