Bumping this, particularly because I find it a bit poorly written. What does the sponsor have to say here?

The intent of the bill seems good. However, I do agree that we can improve on the writing of the bill. In particular, section(or clause?) 6 should be said by the sponsor in debate, not included in the text of the bill, and rather than relying on examples to explain what the bill does, the bill should set out what it does more clearly so it is perfectly obvious even without the specific examples(which again, can be provided in debate).

Alright, this bill is something similar to what we did back in the old South, and it’s a good program. You’re right about clause 6, Pericles. However aside from that, the bill’s intention is as y’all have read, to create jobs.gov websites that are regional so you can find jobs local to your region, city, etc. it also will help get more people with a decent paying job, and of all progressions. Many people still struggle to find a job, and I believe this is a good solution for the common, working man or woman to get a good, decent paying job.

I would love to know my fellow colleagues opinions on the bill, the writing I can fix, but I believe this is a program that will work for Atlasia.

I would like to see a link to that jobs bill passed by the Old South since section 1 is too vague.

I had it, but I’m actually doing a deep dive. The wording was very similar, though. I’m planning on rewording this due to my colleagues’ concerns about the wording. This bill will work for Atlasia though.

I appreciate the bump.

I’m going to slightly reword the bill, make it more “professional”. I’m just going to inform y’all that the main policies of the bill will stay in place. Speaking of which, the bill would honestly help Atlasia so much. I remember how the bill worked, wish I could find it, but it decreased unemployment. Unemployment is a huge problem in Atlasia right now, and I refuse to believe that we should just continue to let things go how they are. We should try to change, and this will bring change, and results.

Also, quick note: URLs don't work like that. Wink

If you're looking to make a subdomain of the larger jobs.gov domain, then you'd need to format it like this:

s.jobs.gov
l.jobs.gov
f.jobs.gov

Though, for clarity's sake, I'd suggest you use south.jobs.gov, lincoln.jobs.gov, and fremont.jobs.gov. Tongue

I'm not sure we should be passing a bill that says that it is "something similar" to something else in the bill's text. As has been stated, the writing seems sloppy. If I wrote this, then I'd probably make it, well, something similar to this:

I just wrote this quickly, but it's something. Consider this an amendment, but I think it could still use more to describe what exactly the website would do.

As for the idea of the bill, it sounds good, but aren't there already websites that list jobs? Like I just looked up jobs in my town (and other towns with the same name but in different states) and a had a few different websites give me literally thousands of options. Why should this bill be passed then?

On some consideration I'm not sure the bill is actually all that necessary. Certainly bringing down unemployment should be an outmost priority, but I wonder if this will make an important difference.

In any case, I defer to Haslam and his promised amendment before proposing a different course of action here.

Just checking on this. Maybe I should clarify what I wrote above was intended to be an amendment once again. (I guess that should have been clearer.)

Do we have any idea for funding? 3 Million total needed according to Section 5.

Proposed amendment to provide the funding needed for paygo. It comes from eliminating the catfish inspection program at USDA, which duplicates the exact same inspections conducted by the FDA on all seafood. Thad Cochran of the catfish capital controlled the appropriations committee when it was created and defunding this inefficient, duplicative, and unnecessary pork program has been difficult.

Final vote is now open lasting 72 hours or once everyone has voted, whichever occurs sooner.
