Apparently many people believed that in 2004 Bush had a chance to win without OH by winning WI. Im wondering why because WI has been consistently more Dem than OH for a long time, infact the last time WI voted more Republican than OH was all the way back in 1968.

But apparently many believed Bush had a chance to win WI while losing OH(some pundits, some polls and some old forum posts show that as well) which I find to be weird.

I remember Bush leading comfortably in the state throughout the campaign. In fact, I thought it was the Gore state he was most likely to flip.

Also, I think Ohio had suffered greatly from the early 2000's recession...

Bush was polling very well in WI, it's suburbs were even more Republican then and Bush was doing great in suburbs in general.

People overestimated the OH populace and assumed they cared more about losing hundreds of thousands of jobs than stopping gays from getting married.

I remember FOX News predicting that Bush would lose Ohio while winning Wisconsin and Minnesota.  They then boasted about their EV vote prediction being exactly correct (which it was, but not exactly how they thought).
