Since I'm horrible at making decisions, I'd probably defer naming the kid(s) to my girlfriend/wife, but if I had to name them, some names I like would be;

Boys:

Tyler
Kerry
Nicholas
Jamie/James
Jonathan

Girls;

Alyssa
Tamara
Shay
Alison
Leticia

If daughter:

Tabitha
Tamara
Tara
Terri
Thelma
Theresa
Tessa

If son,...well that depends on my hypothetical wife's name.

Haven't thought of that yet, it depends on who I marry, where I live, etc

I'm not entirely sure an any of this, but I certainly have some ideas.  My last name doesn't lend itself well to many first names IMO, but I'd try to think of something.

Boy Names I Would Consider
Aaron
Campbell
William
Robert (probably as a middle name)
Preston (see Robert)
Nicholas
David
Barton (see Robert)

Girl Names I Would Consider
Erin
Patricia (as a middle name, like my cousin)
Margaret
Emily
Ann
Stella
Karen
Elizabeth
Thelma (first or middle name)
Something based on my wife's first and middle name (since I don't plan on having kids outside of marriage) or her mother's

This is by no means a complete list, but it's a start.

Boy names
Matías, Mateo, Patrick/Patricio, Ignacio, Nicholas/Nicolás, Alexander/Alejandro

Girl names
Carolina, Nieves (middle), Eleanor/Leonor, Abela, Leto, Teresa, Isabella/Isabel, Alexandra/Alejandra
Patricia would be here but people's tendency to say /puh-trish-uh/ instead of /pa-tree-cee-a/ takes it out of contention

Unisex names
Alexis

All these depend on what last name my kids have. Also there are probably others but I can't think of those since I'm mostly posting here to procrastinate from a paper I have to write Tongue

For some reason, I have always imagined that I would have a daughter, and I think because of that I tend to like more "reasonable" girl names, while the boy names I like tend to be very out there.

Some of my favorite girl names:
Natalie/Natasha/Natalia
Names with the letter combination EV: Eve, Eva, Devon, Evelyn, etc.
Names with the letters R and X: Roxy, Roxanne, Roxette, etc.
Names starting with the letters EL: Elise, Eleanor, Ellie, Elizabeth, Elsa, etc.
Kirsten
Matilda
Kajsa
Ada

Some of my favorite boy names (yes, I know):
Isidore
Roland
Casimir
David
Canute
Lyan
Evan

Some names I could never name my child (mostly random people I haven't gotten along with at some point in my life): Zach, Nick, Ben, Zoe, Alex, Sadie, Gus

Hmmm....I'm partial to the name "Grace" for a girl (yep, I'm old school, LOL).  For a son....not sure, but the name "George" appeals to me (it was my father's and grandfather's name, as well as the name of my oldest brother).  Personally, my first name is Matt...."Matt Jr."? Wink

Not many here seem to want more original names.

Like Kaylin, Jailyn, Emela, Valana, Jashu, ?

Son: Kennedy, Oliver, Miles, Max, Patrick

Daughter: Roosevelt (Rose), Eleanor, Blake, Lucy, Macy
IMO, Roosevelt and Blake are (or should be) exclusively guys' names.  But if you want to name a daughter either of those things, I can't stop you; go right ahead.

To be honest, creative names like that are already pretty common these days. There’s a modest reversion to some older, more traditional names going on right now. I don’t know if it’s a trend for the long term, though.

A lot of the "newer" or more "unique" names just remind me of the Starbucks Frappuccino crowd (if anyone knows what I mean).

So yeah, I'd probably name my kid something more "traditional" like James or Sarah.
