Based on 2010 census, not the best, and somewhat gerrymandered, but I think it is much better than the current map. What do you think?

Districts 3 and 4 are drawn rather weirdly (but I’ve seen stranger, lol), but I guess from a logical standpoint it makes sense to put Jackson’s suburbs in Rankin with as close as you can to the Coast as possible.

It looks fine to me though.

No, of course not.  That horrendous grey district isn't even legally contiguous for crying out loud (looks like it relies on water contiguity around the Gulf Coast).  Metro Jackson being split between 3 CD's is a clear COI problem.

If your objective is to be a partisan hack and create a 2-2 Mississippi map, this one is much better.

Horrible map. I your goal is two dem seats, you can achieve that while avoiding the seacoast spiral.

It seems like it should be possible for the second D seat to cut between the two R seats rather than having to go around the coast.

This map, in my opinion at least, crosses the line between VRA required districts and illegal racial gerrymanders. Your map should be titled "separate but equal"

No. Gerrymandering doesn't correct a thing.

I've been able to create two BVAP plurality/majority districts without over-gerrymandering.

Or you could draw two Black majority districts without creating Rorschach's Salamander. (from Daily Kos)

The Gulfport-Biloxi-Pascagoula Metropolitan Area (Jackson, Hancock, Harrison) is only 19.8% Black and 70.5% White. There is no substantial black population to speak of.

But those are barely blue, with mine you get one solid blue and the other tilt blue. These are both just slight blues.

But the Gulfport Biloxi counties are significally larger than most of those other places.

But there is still no reason for a Black VRA seat to venture into them.

Yeah, I will admit, it is pretty egregious.

I wanted to make the district bluer, and I did not see any other options that looked as good at the time.
