With Castro getting pretty old and Cuba being in the hold of communism for decades I think the US should annex Cuba and in time have it become a new state in the Union.

It will show that the US has nothing against the Cuban people and will also help with all that illegal immigration! Maybe it wall also get rid of Cuba's national anthem "Row, Row, Row Your Boat" Cheesy

It'll also make Cuba have a worldwide voice and improve it's quality of living.

So who's for the betterment of Cuba?

Yes we should. It was a big mistake to give Cuba independence.

Hold a referendum in the country.  They have a different culture and the right to their independence if they want it.  Personally I'd encourage them to vote yes.

I think it would be a bad move on the U.S.'s part. Europe, Canada, Asia, Africa and especially Latin America would cry Imperialism. And they'd likely make a good case. I don't know if Cuba would terribly better under American rule as opposed to independence, once trade opens up and a democratic process opens up things should improve on their own.

While I think it would be the best thing for the Cuban people (look what we did for Puerto Rico), it would never happen in a million years.

oh no no no no... I guess you guys misunderstood me.

Should we annex Cuba and make it a colony/territory? Absolutely not. we cannot afford that.

Should we annex cuba and get rid of communism? Yes.

I say it was a mistake to give independence to Cuba, becuase really it belonged to Spain. After all, the Spanish-American war was for something that was America's fault, not at all spain's. Cubans are Spanish and black, we must remember.

Puerto Rico should also become a state, I think once they do their lives would also become a lot better. We're not going to give them more benifits than they already have if they stay a territory!

Me too!
I once made a 90-state plan that involved the US annexing all of North America, Australia, the Phillipines and the Pacific.

I voted no - we would ruin it.  I want to see it turn into a good corrupt/fun/lawless third world tourist destination, not some Disneyfied lawsuit-plagued Florida clone.

Nah...now the Kurdish areas of Iraq (and Iran? Syria? Turkey?), *that* would be interesting, as they are very pro-U.S. Dam*ed expensive, but interesting (and dangerous) location!

And as for the poll, I voted 'Not Sure', as while I would heartily invade to crush Castro and his stinking regime I would leave any annexations to a referendum, once I'd finished cleaning out the Communist/'Castrocentric' Wink rot...

Well technically they call the US imperialist becuase they're trying to cover up their own imperialism!

But I can say a lot of Americans still want more land and just more stuff.

In each area there would have to be a plebiscite so then if other countries cry "imperialism" we can say the people in the area voted for it, we didn't make them!
