Long article from the Washington Post about whether the current drift between the US and Europe is permanent:

Is this possibly an overreaction? During the 1960s, the US had to contend with Charles de Gaulle expelling US troops, and eventually the command structure of NATO itself, out of France. That was an incredibly hostile act, during the worst of the Cold War at that. Nothing Trump (mind, I'm not comparing the two) has done is as antagonistic to Europe as that.

Overreaction.  Relations are as good as ever outside of some clashing personalities.

It's an overreaction, but I also do hope that Europe begins to take its security into its own hands. I hope that it will lead to a slow, long process of the EU becoming more and more tightly united and, eventually, militarized.

Who cares what Europe thinks about anything?

Greece is broke. Germany props up the whole continent and they pay their soccer stars way too much money.

The last thing they care about is the USA. With 30% unemployment, getting a job is atop the priority list.

This is just media spin.

Take a seat, Europe. We don't even pay up for our own security, and America remains an incredibly important and valuable ally. We should respect the democratic choice the American people have made.

Huh

Germany has 99 problems, but this ain't one.

It's well known that those communist Americans don't like capitalism in their sports.
