Not in 2020, but if he wins re-election in 2022 (possible depending on who the GOP puts up... I feel good about his chances in a race against anyone not named Rob Portman) he might be a plausible 2024 candidate.

I doubt a freshman Governor will make the ticket unless they have something really special that another possible option would lack (Cynthia Nixon, maybe J.B Pritzker) has a competent Lieutenant Governor (possibly Gavin Newsom) or is far enough along in his term that running might not be a downside for him (only really applies to Ralph Northam and Phil Murphy).

Well, obviously his A rating from the NRA is fine since he's establishment, unlike a certain someone with a D- rating.

I love BTM but I honestly don't think he's exciting enough. Could be VP material but I think if he wins, it'd make more sense to pick Sherrod Brown.

Do you mean "blatant corruption" when you say "something really special"?

Let him win and govern first. In 2024, we can talk if the Democrat loses in 2020.

If Democrats want a midwesterner on the ticket, let it be either Sherrod Brown or Tim Ryan.

In 2024, he would be good for flipping Ohio and the rust-belt.

Maaaaaaaaybe a good VP choice but he's not exiting enough to win the primary and he might even have trouble in the GE. Sherrod Brown or Tim Ryan would be much better candidates for President or VP.

If any freshman governor knew what was good for them, they would wait until the next cycle or two before they even attempt at running for the nation's highest office. Maybe they can be a running mate, that would depend.

I don't think any Governor is viable until they complete at least one term, Senators should be at least six years before they are really 'ready' but four years seems to be the norm.
