Is Mills considered a strong enough candidate? I was under the impression that Cote was a much more promising potential nominee but I could be wrong.

WRONG THREAD FOR F**K's SAKE

My bad! Thought this was an umbrella thread for all primaries today, for whatever reason.

In other news, according to NYT, "none of these candidates" is currently Jacky Rosen's top challenger for the NV-SEN nomination (with over 15% of the vote) after the first couple votes have been counted.

This is mostly not in and appears to be Golden's base. There may be hope for Maine Dems after all.

There are 2 lessons here:

1) If you would like to run for the Senate one day, consider not stripping down to a speedo for a commercial

2) Buy any and all domain names related to your campaign ASAP

From 538:

"In South Carolina’s 4th District Republican primary, we are virtually certain to see a runoff in a 13-candidate field. (Rep. Trey Gowdy is retiring.) But the guy currently in first place, Lee Bright, has expressed support for the state’s right to nullify federal laws and the creation of a separate currency for South Carolina."

I keep hoping the whack-a-doodles have reached their limit, and I keep getting proven wrong.

Early NV takeways:

Amy Vilela has 5 votes in Nye County - not a good start. Hosford up in the 4th.

Rosen winning the DINO counties isn't bad I guess

Sisolak is also winning those areas. Winner of Washoe is a good indicator for the strongest GE candidate for here.

It’s close but Jared has had the lead for a while and has managed to keep St Clair at arms length

The geographic pattern on the ME-02 primary is not (at all) what I would have expected. Maybe the French name is helping St. Clair in the far north (though I would have thought it would also help in Androscoggin County if so). But it is very surprising that St. Clair is doing best in the most rural and remote parts of the district while Golden is stronger in the cities and less remote areas. Edit: Well, I guess St. Clair did win Bangor. But he's also winning places like Fort Kent that I would have thought would hate him.

Also, I assume Craig Olson must be from Islesboro? Otherwise that result stands out very dramatically against the rest.

Don't get too excited. Golden's best county just dropped (his home county) and now has fewer remaining than the rest of the district.

If this was FPTP...yes. But this isn't, and Penobscot+Aroostock still have a lot more precincts to drop.

Yeah, Campbell dropped out and endorsed Armstrong. Remember when Senator Campbell was actually a real possibility? Yeah, me neither. Tongue

Pretty pathetic showing by Armstrong, no?

Also this:

Disgusting, Virginia.  Stewart is a racist and should be forcibly removed from the GOP.
The standard bearer of your party is a racist. You can't escape it.

It's good that EC is willing to say this.  He's a counter example to the popular meme that all Republicans are racists.
