Sincere request for tonight: since California results will trickle in for days or weeks and the final results may be very different from tonight's returns, can we please avoid any hot takes based on tonight's returns?

There is a -200 percent chance of that

Lol.

Unfortunately, There is nothing in New York Times for the critical Missouri special election. Otherwise, it would be 23.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say the Persky recall fails today. I could be entirely wrong about that, but i know a lot of liberal people around here who oppose it - generally most people who are informed do.

That would be very sad if it failed.

I do not see how anyone who is not racist could possibly oppose Persky being recalled.

It appears that New Jersey is the slowest state so far.

According to the Politico Website, Mississippi and Alabama are reporting even slower.

When I posted that, New Jersey had 0 precincts reporting, while Alabama and Mississippi had 4 and 5 each. No longer like that.

WULFRIC PROJECTION - AL:

U.S. House District 4
Democratic Primary
CANDIDATE   VOTE   PCT.
Lee Auman
4,383   59.6%

Rick Neighbors
2,968   40.4
7,351 votes, 38% reporting (164 of 427 precincts)

@Badger: If you want sluggish, absolutely-every-check applied projections, then use NYT.  My projections are based on sophisticated analysis of county and district/statewide results, and have been correct on all but 3 occasions over the course of 2016, 2017, and 2018.

There were the 2 recent cases with WV-03 and PA-05. What was the 3rd?

Only 2 candidates in CA-21, so both make it to the runoff.

So John Cox is winning first place in California. How much do you want the bet there will be "DEATH OF DEMOCRATS IN CA" headlines tomorrow morning, if he pulls it off?

This is a reporting bias.

Hopefully it is not an exact tie. Under California law, a tie for 2nd place means that both make it to the runoff, which would mean that there would be vote splitting in the general.

So the district with the only real danger of lockout is one they wouldn't win anyway (CA-08).

CA-08 would have been potentially winnable if the Wave turned into a Tsunami, and we had D vs D runoffs for both the Senate and Gubernatorial Race.
