Unofficial results of the Democratic Primary:



Nothing really surprising here. Norris is from Montgomery county, while Boulton is from Louisa county. Only Glasson's success in southwestern Iowa is not obvious.

I haven't researched it but apparently IA has never elected a governor who is resident in a county bordering the Mississippi. Boulton may have fallen cursed to this.

Yes there was - state ag secretary, which went to convention because appointed incumbent Mike Naig didn't get 35% (got about 34%).

Anyway, for those more knowledgeable- in which district does Cathy Glasson live? Could she have future in a statewide office or as a U.S. Rep? She seems really good to me.

Glasson's address on her candidate filing is in Coralville, which is Loebsack's district. Perhaps when he retires, she could run for his seat.

That's only part of it. Super-restrictive abortion law (which is not taking effect due to lawsuits), slashing collective bargaining for teachers, and tariffs are hurting the farmers (though they still stand by Trump because he promised he wouldn't abandon them - why people vote against their own interests, I'll never understand).

Hubbell seems like a less than ideal candidate but it seems like Democratic enthusiasm is up significantly in Iowa so he may just be carried to victory here anyways.
