Unofficial results of the Democratic Primary:

Nothing really surprising here. Norris is from Montgomery county, while Boulton is from Louisa county. Only Glasson's success in southwestern Iowa is not obvious.

I was surprised just how much Hubbel won by. I knew he would win quite comfortably, but not by this much.

Yet Boulton somehow won a county. Protest vote?

I think it was his home county.

I haven't researched it but apparently IA has never elected a governor who is resident in a county bordering the Mississippi. Boulton may have fallen cursed to this.

Yes there was - state ag secretary, which went to convention because appointed incumbent Mike Naig didn't get 35% (got about 34%).

Or, you know, he shouldn't have sexually harrassed women.

Anyway, for those more knowledgeable- in which district does Cathy Glasson live? Could she have future in a statewide office or as a U.S. Rep? She seems really good to me.

Glasson's address on her candidate filing is in Coralville, which is Loebsack's district. Perhaps when he retires, she could run for his seat.

I was in Iowa earlier this month, and a change was starting to happen; as a result Fred Hubbell became the Democratic nomine. He will challenge Gov Reynolds and win.

Fake news! The only people who have ever voluntarily visited the state of Iowa are politicians running for President Tongue

Iowa, isn't the most important state in this election, but Blum is very vulnerable, and change can spill over to the Gubernatorial election.

That's only part of it. Super-restrictive abortion law (which is not taking effect due to lawsuits), slashing collective bargaining for teachers, and tariffs are hurting the farmers (though they still stand by Trump because he promised he wouldn't abandon them - why people vote against their own interests, I'll never understand).

Because of other people that they are manipulated into hating and/or fearing.

Hubbell seems like a less than ideal candidate but it seems like Democratic enthusiasm is up significantly in Iowa so he may just be carried to victory here anyways.
