Another poll out today shows Newsom and Cox advancing to the runoff.
http://cerc.net/_bopwp/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/CERC-CA-Governor-Primary-Poll-2-Memo-w.Topline.pdf

Also I found an article explaining why California polling has been all over the place: http://capitolweekly.net/ca120-whats-wrong-public-polling/

Newsom 31%
Cox 23%
Villaraigosa 13%
Allen 10%
Eastin 5%
Chiang 4%
Other 5%
Undecided 10%

Feeling confident we'll get Newsom-Cox. Safe D.

I say confident, but I'd really rather see Chiang-Cox, since I find John Chiang the most compelling of the serious Democratic candidates. But I have mixed feelings about a Newsom-Chiang race because of the theoretical effect it might have on down-ballot R turnout.

Kashkari ran essentially as a liberal, and in an R-friendly year. Cox doesn't break 40, probably doesn't break 35.
