I'm going with no, I don't personally see the issue with it. Your body, your choice. If it gets shared and spreads, I'd really only consider convicting the person that shared it.

Often times there are convicted for producing and distributing child pornography (which I think is just ridiculous).

if that's what you wanted to talk about then your OP is just horrible.  You didn't even mention the most important part.  Kill this and start over.

No. If you're underage and you're taking pictures of yourself you shouldn't be classified as a child pornographer.

The idea that someone underage can get indicted on child pornography charges for taking a nude pic of themselves and sending it to their bf/gf is patently absurd. States should have corrected this already long ago.

I don't get the premise of charging someone who is underage with child pornography, when they are taking photo/video of themselves.

Charging an adult who takes a picture of a child's privates for the child's benefit is fine, but charging the child is beyond me.

What if an underage person is sexting an adult?  Should the adult then be charged with possession of child pornography?

Depends. If it falls within a Romeo-and-Juliet age provision (I think four years in most instances), then no. If it's like some 40 year old person, they're clearly a predator and then yes.
