He thinks going after Dan Sullivan isn't a good idea.

Ugh. I fully support Walker rather than the lobbyist, but this will probably hand the seat to the GOP.

Begich should have challenged Young. Walker and Begich will split and lead to Governor Dunleavy.

Bleh....I don't like this at all.   Begich is not helping the Democrats in any way whatsoever.

What has Walker done to piss off enough people that all the state's political hotshots are aiming to take him out?

Not that Walker can help this, but oil has been relatively low, so the state government is having issues getting money. Someone else can probably give a more complete answer.

The Alaskan budget was basically entirely run on oil royalties, so to keep the state solvent amidst the oil crash Walker had to cancel the payout given to Alaska residents which caused a lot of anger.

Begich better runs for senate again and leave Bill Walker alone. I continue to support Bill Walker and hope he pulls this off. Walker/Mallott 2018!

Begich officially in
http://www.ktuu.com/content/news/Im-in-Former-Alaska-Senator-Mark-Begich-enters-Governor-race-484355931.html
Begich is one of my favorite politicians if its not for his lobbyist stuff he wasn't involved with that for too long so I support him hesitantly

The Walker Administration's austerity measures WRT the Alaska Permanent Fund made his prospects of reelection essentially moot, IMO. I'm willing to wager that Begich would be more likely to "hold" the seat, as seemingly contrarian as such an opinion is.

Begich is an ass. He's going to hand this race to the Republican nominee on a silver platter. Why not just wait until 2020 to attempt a comeback, or like someone else said, run against Don Young if he just had to run this year?

This is like reverse Greg Orman.

When Mark Begich decided to run, conditions were more favorable to Dems. Trump got a Korean bounce out the polls, and AK leans GOP.  I'm thinking that he doesn't want to run against Young or Sullivan, due to Trump having some sort of Korea bounce in the polls, and AK is an oil and gas state that trades with the Korean peninsula.
