They voted for Nixon 3 times, Regan twice Clinton twice and Dubya Twice and Obama twice. There's actually a couple counties who voted like this so that means a significant portion of voters voted this way I'm curious what would make someone vote in this pattern.

Sounds like a very average swing voter, who seeks out strong leaders/perceived winners. Note that such a person would be at least 77 years old at the time they voted for Trump.

Was a #neverGoldwater Republican, but became a swing voter thanks to the GOP going off the deep end under Gingrich's leadership.
