Places where Perot '92 did better than Trump

Not on the list are New York County, NY (Trump- 10% vs. Perot 5%) or Philadelphia (I don't think Perot reached 15% in Philly), nor is San Francisco on the list (though it was very close: Trump got 9.2% there vs. 9.0% for Perot).

On the list are Detroit, MI (3.1% Trump vs. 4.0% Perot); Washington, DC (4.0% Trump vs. 4.3% Perot); and Cambridge, MA (6.5% Trump vs. 10.0% Perot--the greatest discrepancy I could find). Two of those three are places I have lived.

Any others? Let's say places with at least 10,000 total votes cast both years. Perhaps in New England or CA or Pac Northwest?

I doubt there are any counties in New England where Perot outperformed Trump. Maybe there are a couple towns in western Mass, but not the ones Perot actually won, which among the ones that usually don't vote Republican were some of Trump's best performances in typically Solid D areas.

Prince George's MD is one, Perot got 9.09 and Trump got 8.40

Perot got 8,298% of the vote in Shannon County, whereas Trump received 8,296% in Oglala Lakota County, thus those county results fulfill the requirements.

Basically anywhere that saw massive swings to the Dems over the 90's and 00's, SF bay area, Alameda is one I believe, Blaine co ID is surprisingly one as well.

Multnomah County, Oregon would be the only county in Oregon (19.5% Perot vs 17.0% Trump).

In terms of Oregon cities > 10k Votes in both '92 and '16....

1.) Portland (18.2% Perot '92 vs 13% Trump)
2.) Ashland (16.4% Perot '92 vs 12% Trump)
3.) Santa Clara (Uninc Lane Co...)--- (24.8% Perot vs 21% Trump)

Santa Clara is interesting as it used to be heavily concentrated around some major timber mills North of Eugene, but in recent years has become a wealthier commuter bedroom community type place....

When it comes to Cities in Oregon with greater than 10k votes we are only looking at Portland and Ashland where Perot '92 performed better than Trump '16 as a % of the Total Vote....

There are a few cities that deserve honorable mention...

4.) Eugene (19% Perot '92 vs 23% Trump '16)
5.) Milwaukie (25% Perot in '92 vs 28% Trump '16)

6.) West Linn (24% Perot '92 and 29% Trump '16)

Upper Middle Class suburb of Clackamas County that started to turn purple in the late '80s and early '90s and moved heavily Democratic over the next few decades....

There are probably some Uninc areas which meet the 10k vote criteria that might also be contenders in Washington and Clackamas County ("Suburban Portland"), but I haven't checked thoroughly...

7.) Cedar Mill (Washington County was 23.6% Perot '92 and my avg number for Trump '16 is 24% but haven't checked the % rounding for '16 so could potentially meet the criteria)....

There are likely some other communities throughout Oregon with <10k total votes in both '92 and '16 where Trump did worse than Perot '92, but I haven't looked into that yet....
