I strongly encourage the assembly to reject this attempt to turn back the clock on gun reform. We need to continue to push for reforms that make are steers safer and ensure that we do not repeal regulations that keep are citizens safe.

This bill removes totalitarian licensing requirements for all gun ownership. In addition, it removes a dumb regulation that requires all bags of non-students and faculty to be checked at the front door of schools which does not have much of a useful effect in stopping gun violence in schools. It also eliminates some useless extra bureaucracy to enforce this law which could easily be taken care of by regular law enforcement officials.

This is a decent start to protecting the bill of rights although many more Fascist gun control measures on the books in Lincoln should go next. Mad props to the sponsor though for attempting to rectify the evil injustice that is the current anti choice laws in place in Lincoln. Lincolns current gun control laws are anti choice, anti bill of rights, and anti evidence.

How do you suppose we can "turn back the clock" on protecting people's natural rights? These so-called reforms violate people's liberties in a way that does nothing to slove the root causes of violence in our society. And as Benjamin Franklin, once said "Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."

Absolutely 100% this.
I fought hard on the original bill when it was introduced, and was saddened to see the rights of our citizens in Lincoln trampled on by their regional government. Thank you to LouisvilleThunder for introducing and sponsoring this.

As a supporter of civil liberties and the right to bear arms, I strongly urge all my colleagues to vote in favor of this measure. It removes draconian control measures on gun purchases and eliminates the ridiculous licensing requirements.

I will object to the final vote being taken.  This bill repeals too much of the hard-fought bill that was passed to get gun control passed in the region.

Objection not recognized! If we can fight hard to pass gun control, we can fight hard to repeal it.

I introduce the following amendment to change the name of this bill. It’s inappropriate to politicize legislation by calling something “fascist”.

I am currently negotiating with the Speaker on possible changes on guns and other related Legislation. It is my hope we can reach an agreement on an over arching set of policies.

I accept the name change. What I really care about is the substance in the bill rather than the name. Tongue

Since there has been no debate for the past 24 hours, I am starting a final vote on this bill. Assemblymen have 48 hours to vote or until all have voted to vote.
