Variations of this law have been passed pre-reset, and this bill fulfills the same purpose: to bring punitive justice to child sex traffickers and provide refuge to victims of trafficking regardless of their citizenship status.  This is a commonsense measure that I trust all MPs can support to address this global epidemic that is the sex trafficking black market.

In addition to these protections, this bill outlaws child beauty pageants and child marriage.  While I normally take a libertarian approach to domestic and moral issues, I believe that child beauty pageants promote an unhealthy obsession with body image at a young age and provide little to our culture other than sexual fodder to pedophiles.

Banning child marriage should be a no-brainer.

I support this bill. Human trafficking is a major problem, and I believe that this bill would do a good job in combating the problem.

Ah yes I didn't see your second post. I propose a vote on eliminating section six. I can see why some would be against them. However there are some child beauty pageants that have less of a focus on appearance and more on talent. These ones also restrict the glitz, make up and sexual appeal. There is also potential scholarship money involved for future education. Also letting girls compete in a well run pageant is not much different from cheerleading, dance or gymnastics where the outfits are also skimpy.

If you wanna be technical, this failed 2-2-4 at the end of the 48 hours voting period and this amendment is dead but I've let late votes count when I was speaker back in the day last session. One could argue such leniency shouldn't be applied to change votes rather than showing up late, however.

In that case, let the amendment fail. I wasn't sure what was supposed to happen in a tie, so I was only changing my vote to try to avoid a cluster.
