On Wednesday, November 4, 2020, CNN's Chris Cuomo interviewed former White House senior adviser and Trump re-election campaign chief strategist Kellyanne Conway:

Cuomo: "Kellyanne I'm sorry for--"

Conway: "Save it Chris. Let's just focus on the transition."

Cuomo: "How did this happen, Kellyanne?"

Conway: "Forget it Chris. I guess you didn't want to have a real interview. There's nothing else to say. I wish the former first lady lots of luck. I'm sure planning the White House dinners will bring back the girls kidnapped by Russians at the southern border when maybe just maybe we should've been focused as a nation and as a DOJ on the Russian invasion and not on Jared's trial."

Cuomo: "But Kellyanne, do you think that President Trump dropped the ball a little on Russ-"

Conway: "I'm done. Bye Chris."

IT ALL WENT WRONG FOR TRUMP AND GOP

October 31, 2018

On an unseasonably warm Halloween, Democrats held a 7-point generic lead on the Congressional ballot. On the verge of a possible House flip, and avoiding a potential hemorrhage in the Senate, Democrats felt cautiously optimistic about their future. But at 9:48am, a cyber attack halted trading on the NY Stock Exchange, causing panic across the markets. Moments later, police databases and state government websites began to go dark. By 3:19pm, the FBI and CIA reported that Russian hackers had made a partially successful attempt to steal intelligence and online data from sensitive US institutions. But in the process, the FBI and various state law enforcement agencies intercepted emails from cyber attackers.

Attackers affiliated with both Putin and Trump were in touch with national GOP leaders with a simple goal: destabilize, cause panic, and consolidate the GOP base to stop Congressional efforts to impose further sanctions on Russia.

That night, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced that he was dismissed by President Trump but would not resign until the FBI finished the investigation.

Trump, angry and flustered, threw his phone at the media during a press conference, tore up his notes, and shouldered past his wife muttering to himself. The President had become unhinged.

November 7, 2018

It all went wrong for the GOP. Democrats picked up 53 seats in the House, and lost no seats in the Senate. Democrats gained Senate seats in Tennessee, Arizona, Nevada, and Texas. The Democrats had won control of Congress. Making matters even worse for the GOP, Democrats won governorships in Maryland, Georgia, Florida, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Nevada, New Mexico, and Maine.

The Stock Market did not recover, and consumer confidence tanked following the cyber attack. President Trump seemed indifferent. Jeff Sessions is reported to not have left the DOJ office since the day of the attack. Trump had not tweeted in four days. After almost 2 years of a strong economy and foreign policy accomplishments, the Trump White House was coming to a devastating crash and burn.

Up Next: Democrats seize on a national mandate as the presidential primary unfurls.

IOWA: THE DEMOCRATS

Michelle Obama [X]   29%
Elizabeth Warren          23%
Mitch Landrieu             21%
Kamala Harris              14%
Cory Booker                 6%
Chris Murphy                3%
Andrew Cuomo             2%
Julian Castro                2%

IOWA: THE REPUBLICANS

Donald Trump [X]   69%
John Kasich          31%

The 2020 races were off. Former First Lady Michelle Obama, the consummate and steady frontrunner for the 2020 primary season, found herself the Iowa Caucuses winner, just like her husband, former president Barack Obama, 12 years before. But the Obama camp grew concerned that Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Mayor Mitch Landrieu came in striking distance.

Meanwhile, Trump continued to hemorrhage support among independents and moderate Republicans. His refusal to issue sanctions against Russia caused him to lose support among veterans. The night before the Iowa Caucuses, President Trump held a rally for his general election campaign in North Carolina, insisting that he did not need to go to Iowa. "They love me there, and they don't care about Putin. Do you care about Putin? I don't. He's great. Better than Crooked Hillary." Former Ohio Gov. John Kasich snagged 31% of the vote. New Hampshire was next.

Meanwhile, President Trump's approval rating sank to 33% after his lackluster Iowa showing. Making matters worse for Republicans, the Supreme Court issued a ruling reversing parts of the Obergefell case. Same-sex marriage would be presumed legal across all 50 states, but states could take affirmative steps to prohibit marriage. Polls showed that 64% of Americans disagreed with the ruling. The GOP doubled down, calling the ruling the best way to prevent the degradation of the American family. Riots took place across the country. Vice President Mike Pence took to national airwaves, affirming that "homosexuality leads to riots."

Up next, New Hampshire. Will the Trump downfall begin?
