This is about what I'd expect for my best-case showing in a close Republican primary against Trump. Trump runs up margins in the east, while I carry the west by smaller margins, as well as wealthier, more establishment states in the northeast, TN due to home state, and South Carolina and Florida due to focusing heavily on southern states I could carry.

If I somehow got the endorsement of the Democrats, this is the result I think I'd get.

I make inroads into rural areas and small towns while taking a slight hit in the cities and the suburbs.

Without the endorsement of the Democrats, I'dn't get very far.

I would lose everything Clinton did plus ME-AL, New Hampshire, Minnesota, and Nevada.

Lets just pretend for a moment I'm actually 35.

I would probably be seen as more liberal than him by default in the Republican primary. I would probably win Oregon in a favorite son thing, maybe Washington and California since I know them well. Maybe Michigan due to my birth state appeal but beyond those four states I can't see myself getting anywhere.

Now the better question would be if I ran third party to split the vote. If I did I would campaign in just Oregon because not only do I not want to lose my home state, but I want to get a split vote where I know it won't hurt trump to give him a chance to still win, but also use those 7 electoral votes to maybe throw a house election.

President Donald Trump (R-NY) / Vice-President Mike Pence (R-IN) - 313 EV's
Presidential candidate Lakigigar (I-BE / I-OR) / Congressional member Keith Ellison (D-MN) - 225 EV's

Let's say i would move to Oregon (which is where i would prefer to live), born in Belgium, and moved to America for work, and got citizenship somehow, and be 35 years old. I would win back Michigan, because i would campaign there a lot, reach out to voters there, and i think i would specifically appeal to voters in Michigan, and to a larger extent in the Midwest, but overall voters will likely see someone who embraces more traditional and American values, and someone who has more experience in governing (talk about "experience"). I would run a populist campaign, if i ran as a democrat, probably wouldn't get all the support other candidates would, and my platform would be way too left for most Americans, even too the left of Sanders, and my populist campaign would even make progressives feel at unease at times, though if this actually would happen, i would of course shift more towards mainstream liberalism / democratic socialism, and tactically shift on certain issues in order to be more electable, though i believe you need to run an ambitious campaign in order to get elected.

I sweep the rust belt due to my populist, pro-worker message, but I do poorly in the South for the same reason.

I also do very well out West due to my connections to the region and my personality, which is somewhat cowboy-esque.

Red are states that I would win in a primary, most moderate Republicans due to Trump backlash, even though I myself am quite conservative

Trump vs. Me

2020 Republican Primary

Trump has an obvious advantage due to incumbency and the only way I even stand a chance is due to his unpopularity and my ability to get out to vote my only real base, disgruntled workers in the rust belt. I fade out eventually and Trump wins the nomination for re-election.

Me as I am now, no experience etc.

President Trump/VP Pence: 385 EV
Mr. Weatherboy/Fmr. Gubernatorial Candidate Ethan Sonneborn: 153 EV

A surprisingly strong showing by me, all things considered, as at the beginning of the cycle I was only winning MA, VT, DC, and HI, but a great debate made some concerns about my ability to serve go away. Of course, a couple of kids still stand no chance against an incumbent President.

I would probably win upper-middle class Evangelical Christians and nothing else if I were to primary Trump (and be 35)- and that's being generous.  I wouldn't win a state, although I might pull out a few Southern suburban counties if my campaign really took off.  Let's be real about the prospects of anyone challenging Trump in the primary.

If Trump maintained his current popularity with Republicans, which is likely, I'd probably not do too well... Tears of joy

Very close race. I only barely squeak by in WI, OH, IA, ME-2 and NE-2. I also lose the popular vote thanks to me doing a lot weaker in California, New York and Texas. I lose Nevada. There are increased calls to remove the electoral college from the GOP after this election.

✓ Political Scientist Chips (D-OH)/Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV): 298 EV. (49.16%)
President Donald Trump (R-FL)/Vice President Mike Pence (R-IN): 240 EV. (49.42%)
