There isn't really a path for El-Sayed to win. He's underperforming in nearly all of the areas Bernie won in 2016.

Abdul was always a longshot, plus the addition of Thanedar complicated things for progressives. Hopefully he has a future in Michigan politics.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with Whitmer though.

Whoever reads Atlas might think that Whitmer is to the right of Lipinski.

Whitmer is decent, even if she wasn't my top pick. The Hillary comparisons were always absurd, at least Whitmer came out for a $15/hr minimum wage.

This is just the year of the Democratic woman. It was always a long shot for Abdul. Hopefully he finds another office to run for.

Honestly, if a progressive Democrat wins the White House in 2020, he'd be a top contender for HHS secretary.

What happens if the MI 13th special candidate is different than the regular 13th candidate?

Then the special candidate serves from November until January 3rd, 2019.

What issue do you have with Whitmer? She supports a $15 minimum wage, led the fights to expand Medicaid and opposing RTW, and is a long time labor union ally. Is El-Sayed to her left? Yes. Is she a useless mushy centrist? No.

TBH, both Whitmer and Abdul were pretty left, would have preferred Abdul though. More interested in the house races, hoping Tlaib can pull a win!

Wow, Michigan has really shocked me tonight. I didn't think Whitmer would be able to hold on after all of Abdul's last minute momentum. Sorry guys. El-Sayed still has a future though and so do his kooky ideas. All in for Schuette now! #KeepMichiganRed

If anyone's wondering, Jones is winning both the primary and special primary in MI13, but Tlaib is closer in the regular than the general.

Considering each candidate ran as a progressive, the following case can be made in Michigan.
