A much more decisive win for Marshall than I expected

I voted for King but I'm not sad to see Marshall win. I'm happy to see Gerald Dial (been in the legislature since 1974) go down. I'm also very happy to see that Twinkle lost. I absolutely despise that woman.

What’s wrong with Twinkle?

I don't believe Little Stars are eligible to run for Alabama Lieutenant Governor.

HA man that was a good one

The Dean margin is eyebrow raising

So, who fares well in a Dean vs. Lee race?  Is Lee the TN version of Brian Kemp?

My sense is he’s more conservate than Boyd or Harwell but more moderate than Black

Which is the stronger dem GE candidate, Schrier or Rittereiser?
Primary turnout is not looking good for Rossi.

I prefer Rittereiser myself

Also, I am legitimately surprised at the number of Democrats celebrating pretty much a Sarsour clone getting elected to Congress.

Yes, and?

You legitimately think Linda Sarsour is a good future for the Democratic party?
1 Rep out of the likely 200+ Dems in 2018 wont make a difference. The election of Lamb didnt force the Dems to the center, nor did the election of AOC force them left.

No, but this has an impact. My father, for example, would be less likely to vote Democratic after this.

Do many average Americans know who Saraour is? I mean I don’t care for her either but she’s not exactly a household name

Because a muslim woman won the seat, and because she as pro-Palestinian views? Ill be honest, thats a bit weird that your dad, or any other voter for that matter, would not vote for a D rep or senator because that one from MI is against Israel, sort of.

Also, when you mentioned her, I had to actually look her up, and Im very active in politics and this forum.

My family are atheists. He doesn't like pro-religion candidates and would prefer the Democrats remain secular.
I really hate to break it to ya, but shes not advocating for Sharia Law. In fact, I have never heard, in any of her stuff or speeches, her use religion, in any case. Im pretty sure shes just a progressive/DS who happens to be muslim. Like Ellison, both are semi-religious, but dont inject it into politics. And trust me, even if they were, the R party is still quoting bible scripture and using Jesus for every argument, so its a pretty stark choice.

I don't know about Tlaib, but Linda Sarsour has multiple tweets where she basically argues that Sharia Law is actually really progressive.

Sarsour is nuts, though, and is also not running for office

Primary turnout-wise, the Dems are looking really good, even without any of the major cities reporting in yet.

Insofar as primary turnout tells us much of anything

Well, I could've done without the snooty comment. But we've been taking about primary turnout A LOT this cycle so I thought it was relevant to point out.

We have been, I’m just skeptical one can extrapolate much from it.

Gillum being under FBI investigation is pretty bad. Voters and (especially) the media hold Democrats to a far higher standard than Republicans, so this is going to hurt him in a race where there's not much margin for error to begin with.

This here is the trouble. Without the ethics cloud there wouldn’t be any real issue with him

Isn't it funny how ol' Bernie and his minions endorsed a guy investigated for corruption.
I guess corruption is bad only for establishment candidates.

In fairness, Gillum himself isn't under investigation. However, it will certainly be used in attack ads.

Fair caveat

So many #hottakes in this thread. I'd say: Toss-Up ->Toss-Up

Eh. I think this makes it Tilt R.

Ironically I think base enthusiasm helps Nelson, though.

What you'd assume would be increased black turnout can't hurt.

That’s precisely the assumption
