I think it should be the persons choice on which one they want.

I believe it is in those states which have several forms.  I remember reading an article a while back about a guy who demanded that Utah execute him by firing squad, and he got it.

While I am generally against the death penalty, if you are going to have it, make it a punishment. Lethal Injection is not a punishment. My dark side says go with the chamber. My lighter side says go with hanging.

There should have been an option for "none of the above"

A good old hangin' in the public square serves the purpose well.

The guillotine was cool.  But lethal injection is the most 'modern' - just put them down like a dog.

I'm definitely against the death penalty--but if I had to choose, I'd say lethal injection--it seems like the least inhumane.

That's the general consensus about it.  That its the humane method.

Yes, lets be humane to a person who was so "humane" to their fellow citizen. I guess Manson deserves tea and cookies and a nice lethal injection, huh?

The punishment is that the person's life ends.  There is no reason to make the death painful.  Anyone who advocates that is a sadist.

I am against the death penalty, but if it has to be done, I would say do it by lethal injection.

I simply cannot countenance the institution. But hanging is somewhat poetic.

Hi there!

Ok, first post here, let's see hw things are here.

On Topic:

I am against DP, period... can't help it, to me killing people is wrong. it has a feeling of surrendering to them.

But as we're on the how:
Well, you want to make it a punishment, to scare others, too?
Make it slow, make it public, and then see how violence will most likely rise.

You want to set a few things the condemmned did right? Clean shot in the head, if he had a healthy heart, it could actually save a life somewhere!

bump

I favor the death penalty, if the person's guilt for a heinous crime is proven beyond any real doubt.

I don't care about the method.  They can boil them in oil for all I care.

I support the death penalty for those convicted of first degree murder, treason, and/or terrorism, and I strongly advocate that it be in the form of either the hangman's noose, the firing squad, or the electric chair.  I agree with many here that lethal injections are a cop-out, and should not be an option for those convicted criminals deciding what manner of death they desire.

You're killing the man, I don't think it's really a cop-out to do it humanely. He's dead either way.

If there were more abortions, we wouldn't even need the death penalty....

and why is dazzleman reviving dead threads?
