The reasons why I believe this bill should pass is because I believe this is the best way to find out how much government spending is wasteful spending or spent inefficiently so we can find out what we can cut from the budget or what types of programs we have to make more efficient.

The reason I believe this is different then the previous proposed Bill which called for an audit is unlike the last bill,  this bill specifically tells the auditor which departments will have to be audited and which ones wont be audited.

Also the auditor in this case while being a third party one , it wont come from a private CPA firm .

Would this audit fall under the responsibility of the GM office?

No but the GM office will get to select the third party auditor.

Could you explain how that would work, please (seeing as the actions of NPCs, including presumably government agencies subject to this audit, are simulated by the GM)?

There is a model for doing this. A similar process was used for Base closure. I would recommend amending this and using a similar process to that, which had more clarity as to the role of the cabinet and the GM.

The amendment is now in the bill as there are no objections. Representatives have 24 hours to object to the motion for a final vote.

I have one problem with this bill, and that is simply the wording on the last line.

"should" doesn't require that it will actually be publicly released. Now, knowing our great GM, he would publicly release it, and as such i'm voting AYE, but if we had someone who was, say, much shadier, they could not publicly release it and they presumably would be fine, unless i'm interpreting this incorrectly. A better wording would simply be "Findings of the audit shall be publicly released".

I'm very much behind this idea, it's just I'm reading way too hard into the meaning of one sentence. Maybe i'm just getting too bored, I don't know. Tongue

Kudos to Weatherboy for making a point about language used in legislation. A shame he wasn't here when they passed Corporate Tax Code Reform in 2016.

A majority have representatives have voted for this bill, so it would pass. But 3 Representatives(Peebs, Razze, RFayette) still need to vote on this bill before the vote closes.

The bill has passed, the final vote is closed.
Aye; 6(Old school Republican, weatherboy1102, fhtagn, Pericles, Lechasseur, OneJ)
Nay; 0
Abstain; 0
Not voting; 3(Peebs, Razze, RFayette)

I have spoken with OSR, and the intended meaning of 'should' is to compel the GM to release the findings, rather than serving as a recommendation. As this is a grammatical error, I can amend it without needing to hold another vote(or two).
