Kind of a shock poll really..... http://www.staradvertiser.com/2018/07/15/hawaii-news/hanabusa-lead-disappears-as-ige-recovers/?HSA=9250af087e0939b0e28ab9a51ee0e73df1f1cc77

David Ige - 44%
Colleen Hanabusa - 40%
Undecided - 16%

Also...
GOP:
Andria Tupola - 41%
John Carroll - 28%
Raymond L’Heureux - 8%
Undecided - 23%

Dems have commanding leads in all matchups against the GOP

One possible reason according to the article:

The Hawaii Poll showing Hanabusa’s suddenly weakened political position comes as Ige generally receives high marks for his handling of severe flooding on Kauai and a devastating eruption of Kilauea Volcano on Hawaii island, events that may have bolstered his image as a competent leader.

The new poll data also suggests the memory of the Jan. 13 ballistic missile false alert that caused panic among Hawaii residents — a scare that appeared to be poisoning Ige’s re-election effort just a few months ago — is fading from voters’ minds as the Aug. 11 primary approaches.

No doubt that this is Gubna Ige's strongest point ever since his perceived vulnerability. If I had to vote, I would be tilting for Ige rn, but I could easily change my mind.

It would be a shame if the only real Democrat in Hawaiis Congressional Delegation gave up their seat for nothing.

I fixed that for you. It gets even worse when all of her potential successors look like they are going to be terrible, regardless of which one it is.

It'd be hilarious if she came back in 2020 again.

Ran for higher office & lost in 2014, returned to Congress in 2016, ran for higher office & lost in 2018, and then returned to Congress again in 2020.

Ehhh, Ive never been that much of a fan of Hanabusa, but I dont know anything about Ige, so I really have no opinion on this race.

It is a shame that her successors are terrible, but im hoping I can get a DSA there. Primary polling is acute for this race, and I would be careful to take one poll at face value.

What is it with Hawaii and their dislike of incumbent Democratic governors?
