Thailand has oppressive heat, dirty cities, poverty, open sex industry, and is generally a sh**thole, but is ultimately a place you miss when you leave. Korea is sterile, stuffy, and unbelievably racist, even by my standards. Once you've checked the box, there's no real need to go there unless you have to.

Fairly ignorant about both, but my old roommate just returned from a year in Thailand and loved it ... so, I'll go with Thailand.

Something you seem to be pretty good at.

I’ve been to Thailand.  Yes it has its problems like many countries but I had plenty of great experiences. I would happily go again.

Honestly i’ve never really thought about going to South Korea before.  I’m sure i’d find some things interesting but there are plenty of places higher up my list.

Thailand -it is less developed than South Korea, but it depends whether you value going on an adventure over traveling in comfort.  If you want the latter more, go to South Korea.

I'm going to Thailand this fall, along with other 'sh**hole' countries like Cambodia and Laos.

Pretty much this. Having been to both, I see no reason to return to either tbh. Japan is the superior version of South Korea, and Viet Nam is the superior version of Thailand.

I misread the question as "would you rather live in South Korea or Thailand" and chose South Korea with little hesitation. 50-50 on visiting, though.

I went to Phuket as a kid. Never again. Complete tourist trap and we spent most of the holiday in the hotel. I wouldn't mind having a 'proper' visit to Thailand to actually experience the culture a bit but it's not really a priority

South Korea. I'm sure Thailand is interesting, but I've alway been more of an urban adventurer, prefering to travel through places like NYC, DC, Moscow and Prague rather than mountains, forests etc.
