Only leading by 3 in his own internal? This primary is a tossup.

This isn't an internal.

I guess it isn't. But it is a poll done on behalf of Kemp.

Interesting that they didn't release the GE numbers.

The Republicans have lost this race. Their only hope of getting back to a hope is Kemp... so...

Go Kemp!

Kemp needs to win for this to be competitive.

Cagle would be a worse candidate at this point because of his scandals. Both are pretty bad though and I'm shocked that the GA GOP can't find any better from a bench so deep.

Kemp will consolidate the parts of the (recently) historical GOP base that are needed for a Republican to win. With the climate as-is in 2018, Republicans are going to lose a substantial chunk of that moderate suburban ATL vote no matter what; this is the group who would be more likely to support Cagle than Kemp in theory, but probably won't in an election like this. Kemp will motivate the rurals to turn out in higher numbers, which is exactly what the Democrats don't need.

It's Georgia. The ever-persistent logic that "goofy guy does goofy thing involving [guns/immigration/whatever] will backfire/crazy is bad" is even dumber here than in most parts of the country.
