Greetings fellow Atlasians. Today I am announcing the formation of a new Atlasian labor union, The Atlasian Coalition Of Labor Occupations (A.C.L.O). It will seek to both endorse and disapprove of candidates and legislation, represent the interests of the working class, help create and advise legislation, if possible maybe grow in members (which if it did would be run by a sort of informal democratic system), and may experiment with other undertakings in the future. I know I have run for office three times and been rejected all three, but I am still determined to try to make Atlas a better place for all of us. While I have retired from running in any near future Atlasian electoral contests as well as left the voter roles, I would still like to be involved in the Atlasian political sphere. I thought I was alone at first in the frustration of tight-knit old timers retaining most of the nooks and crannies in the Atlasian political sphere, but I have heard several others express this sentiment of being shut out, especially defacto turning away most new blood that tries to enter the Atlasian political sphere. I think a broader mission for all of us should be to try and change this culture, since we could definitely use new ideas, faces, and activities. I have been mulling this over for half a year now, and decided to just finally do it. This will be a place, no matter how small or insignificant it may be, where outsiders and newcomers are welcome to join and get involved, even if just a little. Because everyone deserves a chance.

With this, I present the first official great seal of The Atlasian Coalition Of Labor Occupations:

With that, as the first member, I will take the ACLO Pledge and sign it below:

I pledge to seek to always uphold the values and interests of the working class, have good intentions at heart, stand with my fellow union brethren in times of need, and to endeavor towards both my best yield in my occupation and uniting together to craft a better world,

So help me God,

With that, becoming the first member, there is no one else, so I become the first Prolocutor of the ACLO, Prolocutor Bagel23.

Thank you, and take care.

First order of business, the ACLO endorses "FT 8-03: The Public Domain of Online Movies and Music Act" currently underway in the Fremont legislature. It helps level the playing field by providing affordable and quality entertainment to our citizens and ends the trivial de jure illegality of this matter. Even a penny spent fighting or prosecuting these so called "crimes" is a shame and a waste of the funds of the dollars of the taxpayers. The internet is a free and open society of its own, and no government need take responsibility of protecting intellectual property in a place that they hardly have any jurisdiction in. This needs to be made the responsibility of content creators, and take away the headache, red tape, unrealistic expectations, and even one more penny of the taxes of the working class spent on attempting to regulate this content. The ACLO urges all Fremont legislature members to give working families a break both through reduced red tape as well as save their tax money from being spent on more futile attempts to stop not even close to quasi "crimes", by voting for "FT 8-03: The Public Domain of Online Movies and Music Act".

Thank you for your consideration.

Good evening Atlasia. The ACLO has decided to give the stamp of disapproval towards "S.18.21: Regional Anthem Act Act". The notion on its own right stands well, but not with the proposed anthem. Using a pre-made song of a silly and undignified nature does not accurately represent the South or it's proud working class families. The song also egregiously fails to give mention or commend the backbone of this region in even one line, working class families. The ACLO cannot remain in good conscience without speaking out and opposing this trivial suggested supplement to a great idea. The ACLO urges the new Southern Chambermen and Chamberwomen, along with the presumed new leadership, to go back to the drawing board for a new choice that properly and accurately represents the region and its people.

Thank you for your consideration.

To all who it may concern, please stand with the ACLO against the considered censure against Ben Kenobi. The Southern Chamber is a place where the bidding of the working families must be done, and Ben Kenobi is always there supporting working families and we like him for that. This place should not be for bickering, vendettas, or toddler feuds. It should be the meeting place to do the most important thing, the bidding of working families. So stop the censuring and get back to sensing the needs of working families. They need your help chambermen, and petty fighting is not going to benefit them. So chambermen, stop the censure and appreciate Ben Kenobi for the great delegate he is and that the ACLO recognizes him as. Get back to doing your jobs instead of going on inefficiency safaris. Do it for the working families of the world and especially the ACLO, and of course for the children.

Thank you for your consideration.

And as previously mentioned on discord, the ACLO is now confirming that we are indeed a right to work union.

A right to work union? Do you support crossing the picket, too?

While we encourage everyone to participate in picketing during strikes, we do not have issues with picket crossers either, an we support their right to work and feed their families as well.

I'm not sure I understand. How do you plan on getting better wages and benefits for workers if management refuses to increase them?

By picketing and striking and negotiating and using leverage, the same things most all other unions do, and we feel as though most union brethren will stick with it and the cause, and only very few would cross the line and stay out of the strike.

Greetings fellow Atlasians. After a frank conversation with Politicalmasta73, we took a vote and decided that we are no longer going to hold our pro-right to work policy. Nothing else past, present or future has changed besides this though. Fact remains that we always were, and continue to be the support group for the working people of Atlasia, and we will seek to continue to endeavor for dignity. Thank you, and peace.

Mr. Bagel,

I believe that you should support giving regions the ability to institute Right-to-Work, as in many cases, unions force people to join them, and charge high fees. Also some large unions, like the AFL-CIO are corrupt. Mr. Bagel, I hope you will reevaluate this position

Councilor SNJC

Fact is Councilor, I completely agree with you, but my hand was forced. The union membership vote came to 1-1, which constitutes a tie, and hence this policy would be voided and no official positions would be taken on the right to work vs no right to work issue, nobody would walk away with an ideal situation. I was also given an ultimatum that if I try to override this in any way possible and try to force the union to hold onto this position, we would go from having two members back to one. So with my back pinned down, I said I would switch my vote to yes, and proceeded to milk the most from the leverage yak. In switching my vote to yes, I got a guaranty that we would 1. not endorse the far left candidates for president this term, and 2. said member would work hard on recruitment and strategy. I made the most I could out of a tight situation, I wish we could have stayed right to work, but it was not to be.

Do you know why right-to-work laws undermine unions?

Yes, but we believe in a person’s right whether or not to join a union, we don’t want to force anybody against their will to be a member.

I am proudly signing up to boost worker’s rights. We need a United Front against austerity, wage theft, and poor working conditions. Let’s roll!
You'll want to look elsewhere if those are your objectives: this is a scab outfit (see above, the founder's support for crossing picket lines and RTW legislation).
The prolocutors opinion is no more powerful than the rank and file, who are against those ppl policies. Try again, buddy. yeah
LOL. When one half of a two-member "union" endorses blatantly anti-labor policies, it's entirely legitimate to call them out on it. So far there is no evidence to suggest this is anything other than a right-wing group posing as a labor organization.

Umm three member union now, we are all left wingers too, and we want to unite and fight for the working class.

Dear citizens of Atlasia, this will be one of the last times I will speak to you as the first Prolocutor of the ACLO. I thank everyone for the incredible support for the working people of Atlasia, and for helping humble me and work towards becoming the best possible voice that I could be for this movement. I do not have any regrets about founding this organization, and I am so proud of what has become of it. Yet I have heard the yearning for freedom and the calls for more just leadership for the ACLO, and I completely agree. I was never a dictator looking out for my own needs or overriding the will of the people, and my intentions were always good, but fact is, the best version of myself as leader is simply outclassed by others. And at the end of the day, it is about the working people, and what is best for them.

As such, I hereby put into motion the vote to make PSOL the new prolocutor of the ACLO.

I vote AYE

I sincerely am honored and flattered to have had the opportunity to be the spokesman for the working class of this proud union, and I look forward to even greater heights with our new Prolocutor PSOL!

Thank you and God bless

Please explain how a 2/3 Bernie 2016 voting union is right wing. Get a grip dude

Oh I also would have voted for Bernie over Hillary in the 2016 primaries if I was old enough at the time.

I would just point out that Atlasia already has a dedicated organization founded on the principle of protecting workers and guaranteeing their right to organize: it's called the Labor Party.

That's stupid partisan politics, this is a labor union that goes above politics and is an actual union, not a political party. Besides, even if you are right, it's ok for more than one union to exist.

While both organizations are for the same goals, we have different methods of getting to them. Labor mainly does this by electoral means, while we take a more direct approach by our willingness to strike, review in-game happenings, and other methods.

From your own experience, worker rights have been on the defensive from voters forgetting the consequences of trailing backward here, and electoralism can only go so far. The special actions this union can take will be beneficial to provide change circumventing the Byzantine system that is electoral politics here.

Let me also say that we’d be happy to discuss your deal and endorse it if it meets our standards.

I'm glad to see that this coalition is being organized now by serious individuals (in the past, it was unfortunately not), and I look forward to working with you on these goals in the future!

Hey at least I wasn’t so thick headed to the point of being arrogant enough to try to cling to the prolocutor position lol

Second Assembly of the A.C.L.O

Introductions

Good Afternoon to all the attendees on this fine day that we hold our second National Assembly of the Atlasian Coalition for Labor Occupations. We will be discussing how we will shakeup our organization in order to best respond to the needs of the working class, as well as recent events in Atlasia.

We will be deciding how to best structure our organization by voting on the the following changes to our guidelines, marked in red. These changes range from superficial grammatical changes to wholesale, radical changes to the core of the union. I urge everyone to read it carefully before submitting your ballot. On another note, know that there will be an acceptance of changes by the members here; to change anything, just submit a change like you do on any bill in Atlasia. With that, I think everything else is straightforward.

Next thing on the agenda, the status of Atlasian worker rights. Recent times have been often mixed or unclear where Atlasia is heading on this issue. While we’ve seen major wins on the recognition of May1st as the true day of laborers and a sweeping overhaul in Lincoln, other regions have stagnated on this issue. Furthermore, the recently passed Woke Workers Act is possibly going to be a major issue going forward as a sneaky introduction of Right-To-Work. In order to best combat these pitfalls, we must be quick in ensuring our rights are upheld. I am issuing a general strike to be held under the condition that the true extent of the bill is true, approved of democratically by this National Assembly’s composition of members. Friends, while I can be sure that some of you are unprepared and worried about a blowback from a strike, rest assured that our numbers and unity in this act will insulate us from any clear threat. In that case, at 1:30 PM (CT), I hereby call that voting procedure is open.

General Ballot.

This election will last for exactly 72 hours beginning at 1:30 PM (Central Daylight Time) on Wednesday, June 12 and ending at 1:30 PM (Central Daylight Time) on Tuesday, June 15. All votes cast outside of this period will be counted invalid.

Ballot instructions
1. Please vote yes, no or abstain on the question of whether the A.C.L.O Objective’s Framework should be ratified. Abstentions do not affect the final outcome. A successful vote for ratification will result in the immediate ratification of the amendment upon certification.

Greetings to all of my fellow union members and Chair PSOL. Let me just reiterate that it is an absolute honor to be speaking to all of you today as the interim leader of the Foodstuff Union. I am here today to entreat the broader organization to stand with us in complete and firm opposition to S.19.2-18: Employees Must Be Legal Residents Act. This is a copycat bill of the one that failed in the Atlasian house just a few days ago, thanks in large part to our valiant stand against it. I humbly ask each and every one of you today to stand with so many undocumented individuals in the Southern region who work side by side with documented foodstuffers, as friends, brothers, spouses, uncles, mothers, and so many more valuable connections, and are integral parts of our communities that are worthy of work and a practical life in this country through their honest toil. Let us make this clear straight out of the gate, this is a sick and lie filled bill with many serpent heads. They seek to vilify workers to keep everyone down and below, and their buddies in the top 0.1% with ever increasing profits, a classic scheme of the far right wing elites. The impotent Atlasian far right has and will continue to spectacularly fail in making meaningful change on the borders, and instead seeks to wreck further hell onto undocumented immigrants, making their working conditions even worse, by taking away what should be a legal right to work. If successful, our fellow workers will be exploited even further, all to make those at the top more money. We cannot let their race baiting and dog whistling catch on any further, for it is as I have said many times already, but it has to keep being emphasized, the oldest trick in the book, to try and divide us by hue of skin, which is a big part of what it is all about at the end of the day for these elites. If passed, I would strongly suggest striking, because this is life and death for many of our brothers and sisters across borders, and a true battle worth fighting tooth and claw for.

Please stand with the workers of Atlasia, say NO to S.19.2-18: Employees Must Be Legal Residents Act.

With profound gratitude,

The ACLO supports someone who said this of the federal version:

If I'm reelected to the House, I plan to reintroduce the Your Employees Must Be Legal Residents Act. Given your answers in the debate, if in some hopefully likely event we have competent legislators who will support this bill next Congress, would this be a measure you would support and sign into law?

In my view, your bill doesn't go far enough. Why focus on federal contractors when we can address the ongoing situation with every employer breaking the law in Atlasia?

Granted, it might be more punitive than my approach for a small segment of contractors and businesses - especially those with large contracts relative to the number of people they employ - but I'm also curious about the figures regarding this specific problem. I would imagine the rate of undocumented employment among businesses that receive federal contracts is considerably smaller than among businesses at-large.

This bill goes after big businesses that exploit undocumented immigrants, often paying them significantly less than what they would pay someone who has a legal right to be here.

Surely an organization that stands for worker's rights would want to make sure that big businesses are following the law.

Well of course, if such an act was introduced the specifics would definitely be considered by the union, but with all due respect chamber member, this ain't it. The main shabang of this doohickey is that employees must be documented, m'kay? When we got such a big meat platter on the table, any sides, no matter how intriguing, are really overshadowed by the big char product if you get what I'm jiving at. And this is something that the Foodstuff Union will not stand for, and will endeavor to unite the masses around this important cause of opposing S.19.2-18: Employees Must Be Legal Residents Act.

As head of the I.C.O, we are coming out strongly against the representatives' bigoted bill which has no economic basis for its existence. It directly contradicts the guidelines set up for this union and serves little to no purpose in reality, however fair it might seem to the untrained eye. While it may seem like one group of people is often responsible for the issues we face as workers (stagnant wages, layoffs, benefit cuts), the reality is the people who propose bills like this are the same ones who raise our taxes, take away our healthcare, and diminish our collective bargaining abilities. They do this because they know the only way they can win is by using fear to divide us, to create an us versus them mentality. The A.C.L.O is far too strong however to fall victim to these attacks, because our union knows better than that.

We are a united front that endeavors to succeed for the working class, and we may strike if this bill passes.

Please provide a single situation in which I proposed raising taxes on working class people. I was a cosponsor of the Reforming and Regionalizing Public Healthcare Act of 2017 in the House. I signed the POWER Act during my time as President.

I suggest not commenting on something you know nothing about. It's not wise to spread lies.

Oh for old cahokia's sake, look no further than this act. A tax is not just an official raise by direct law on a group of people, labor groups know this all too well. Barring undocumented individuals from working is an indirect tax on working families and unions, depriving everybody of opportunity. The atlasian right prefers taxing the people through more scheming methods than a straight up tax raise.

The top of the presidential ticket for the Atlasian left wants to take it farther than I did with companies that hire illegal immigrants. Where is your outrage over that?

Believe me chamber member, I am outraged about it, in fact it is a worse grievance than this. I had known of some of these positions in the past, which is why I stayed and am staying loyal, and have personally endorsed and am voting for YT/Vern for P/VP of Atlasia.

Just so people are thoroughly informed, our press secretary has stated the union's official position on this matter.

Official ACLO ratings for House, June 2019
fhtagn
Grading: F-
Explanation: Fhtagn has been a consistent opponent of this organization's goals, voting against workers rights without exception. Just this Congress she voted against all the ACLO supported acts and she has also honored people who consistently undermine the rights of labour like Fred Koch. Fhtagn will work against the workers of Atlasia.

Literally no one cares about the ACLO, but thanks for clarifying Smiley

Are we allowed to bring up a vote to give a grade below F- or censure someone?
