Actually, Sanchez is right (to an extent). The refugees seeking shelter and refuge in our country should know at this point that this is no longer a safe place for them, that there is no humanity to be found in this land. So, when they make the mistake of trying to protect and improve their lives and those of their kin, they should look elsewhere.

It's unfortunate that this child died. They wouldn't have died if the family hadn't tried to smuggle them into the country illegal. This is no reason to allow unlimited child immigration. Children also sometimes die from diseases they catch from other children at school and no one thinks that's a reason to get rid of schools.

No one deserves death over this. I know it wasn't intentional, but blaming the parents and not the facility is a cop out. No one should die in custody like this (especially a child).

We're not discussing whether they should or should not be placed into some kind of detention center, at this moment. What we're discussing is the neglectful care that this child received in the ICE detention center that was so extreme that it resulted in the unnecessary death of a child. That absolutely does fall on the officials involved (from those directly caring for these children, straight up the chain of command). Unless you don't believe American public officials have a responsibility to ensure the quality of its detention centers are at a level that at least keeps children alive.
