Campaigns routinely go to all sorts of measures to keep independent / 3rd party candidates off the ballot.   How is helping another candidate get on the ballot any worse?

I think it’s involving the sheriff’s department in a signature campaign apparently heavy on forgeries/potential abuse of office by a non-elected member of said sheriff’s department
