Objectively, George W. Bush as he won twice and fared better in the popular vote than the rest did. McCain is my personal favorite of the bunch. Ranking them based on how well they campaigned:

1. Bush 2000
2. Trump 2016
3. McCain 2008
4. Bush 2004
5. Romney 2012

Rich when people who didn't vote for McCain or Romney (and threw the same epithets at them that they now hurl at Trump) now sing their praises in contrast to Republican nominees who were actually successful.

Romney could have been higher had he not opted to be such a worthless phony when he campaigned.

And what is "terrible" about the rest that isn't about Trump?

Anyway, easily Romney.

His warmongering is accompanied by a populist tone Tongue
