No.  It would come off as totally lame and a way to copycat Trump.  He'd tweet out "Oh, now they think they can be Trump?  What a pathetic way to do it.  Sad!"

I don't know if he'd say that, but this is what he'd think.

The best thing Democrats can do is present a vision of their own and not be shy about it. Run on a proactive platform rather than a reactive one. That doesn't mean don't criticize Trump (there's plenty to criticize and criticism is needed), but don't simply rely on his antics to guarantee a victory. I still think he will lose and lose handily, but it is imperative that Democrats don't keep going with the same playbook that might have worked a few times in the past but doesn't work as well anymore.

Just becuse Hillary lost, it doesn’t mean that everything she did was wrong. The whole “when they go low we go high” schtick was probably effective.

Definitely not. Politicians run so many attack ads for a reason, it's because they work.

TTT - Trash Tweeter Trump

In all seriousness: I don't think imitating Trump is a good idea. The general messaging is much more important. Trump needs to be branded with a bad label so that everyone who hears his name associates it with corruption, incompetence and selfishness. This may include some form of name calling, but starting a nickname contest with him is not the best solution. Just because he turned it into something good for him must not apply to the challenger.

Hillary ran a sh**tton of attack ads, but she just didn’t stoop to ridiculousness like Trump. This thread is about whether the Democrat should act like Trump in that sense, and IMO it is obvious that they should be more similar to HRC than Trump. (So run attack ads a lot, but don’t be a child; it’s what made people like Romney speak out, and I really doubt it did him any favors).

Yup.

Negativity is a winning strategy. Americans often complain about how negative politics can be, but it works and resonates with them as voters. They complained about that in 2016, yet Trump won. It resonates and always will, whether voters are aware of that or not.

Righteous Donald? Donald the Good?

I think a sarcastic nickname could be the most effective.

More suggestions for this: Truthful Donald, Honest Don, Mr. Tough on Russia, God Emperor, The great unifier, Donald the dove

Others I like: Master of Disaster, King of Debt (would be accurate)
