There's Pawlenty of the vote still to come, but it's not looking great for him.

I see what you did there and I approve.

Not surprised by either outcome (R or D),...okay, I admit I figured Swanson would get 2nd or be just behind Murphy...but nope.

Tonight's elections in Minnesota and Wisconsin just prove once again how freaking useless their endorsement conventions are. Just go ahead and bury those things.

Think Swanson really helped out Walz here in the end, I think Murphy would've edged him out in a 1v1. Also scandals clearly did Swanson in I don't doubt she had a substantial lead in the beginning there but  negative stories too much to overcome.

Why do you think Walz would lose in a 1 on 1 with Murphy?

If anything, Swanson took away a sure Outstate-fueled win from Walz by splitting away the Northern vote from him.

Peggy Flanagan is AWESOME.

I saw signs of that tonight in person. Take a look at this big event and what's her main priority? Keeping her daughter comforted.

I have never had a Gubernatorial ticket that I've felt consisted of two simply awesome people as this one.

Lawl

It's over for the DFL. Many Minnesotans have great memories of T-Paw and will happily vote for him. Say goodbye to MN-01 and MN-08 while we're at it. Blue wave is officially dead in this state.

Walz gonna be a Veep contender? If Trump wins in 2020 I'd imagine Walz would be whispered about in 2024, although I doubt he'd win that nomination these days

RIP Mr. Pawlenty. Glad to see Walz has won.

I doubt any governor or senator first elected in 2018 will be a 2020 vice presidential contender. Sherrod Brown would be a better VP candidate if Cordray wins his election. But I suppose Democrats would lose the seat in the subsequent special election.

Tim Pawlenty only won CD1, with a plurality of the vote. Ouch.
In the Democratic Primary, Swanson wins CD8, Murphy wins 4 and 5, Walz takes the rest.

As far as the race goes now, I would move my prediction from Lean D to Likely D. Johnson is a way stronger candidate than Pawlenty but Walz is a way stronger candidate than Johnson. Walz will probably win something like 54% - 45%, barring some surprising event.

As far as Walz's political future after that, I could see a Democratic President making him Agriculture or Energy Secretary in 2021, which could lead to another potentially competitive Gov race in 2022 (or 2021 if our state govt. turns out to be deeply incompetent). But I'm probably getting ahead of myself.

Would have almost exact resume that Mike Pence did when elected. Both have 6 terms in the House and if Walz wins elected to one term as Governor (Pence would have served 2 more years as Gov) .
