Legendary New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) on Wednesday at a bill signing in Manhattan said that "America was not that great" to women and minorities.

Cuomo's comments faced criticism nationally. Can the NY GOP underdog candidate Marcus Molinaro, the Dutchess County Executive, gain in the polls due to Cuomo's gaffe?

He's saying the truth though? It's only now that things are ever so slightly better for some minorities.

Yeah, he will lose by 25 instead of 30 points.

Yes, Cuomo has a point. But why are people so mad?

Probably because they don't like the idea of confronting reality.

First of all , Cuomo didn't say "it wasn't that great to women and minorities".. His exact statement was "we're not going to make America great again.. it was never that great..."... Period.. end of sentence...

If that's true, then doesn't he and his father bare some of the blame? Either one or the other of them has been the governor in one of the largest states in America for most of my life...

Most people feel that America has "always been great" and while some of that has slipped in recent years, its coming back now.

none of this matters in the context of his gubernatorial race... for the primary, it probably helps him with American hating liberals who may change their mind about voting to elect a TV actress as governor, now that Cuomo is saying what they want to hear

as far as the general election, he'll win by 30. The only people that care about his statement are those that were going to vote against him anyway.

Maybe, though Nixon (if she continues to run on the Working Families line) and Miner are more likely to gain than Molinaro.

It's not quite that simple.  Statewide, there are two parties in New York, the "Democrats" and the "Not Democrats".

Molinaro comes from a suburban county that is trending Democratic, but which still elects Republicans.  He's a solid candidate with the proper experience.  He's a "Not Democrat", but "Not Democrats" have occasionally won statewide.  George Pataki did it three (3) times, albeit twice against rather lame candidates.  He's actually a pretty formidable candidate.  And he's using Cuomo's comments as an issue already.

https://molinaroforny.com/

He's running a "Not Democrat" campaign as a moderate Republican, and not as a Trumpist.  He's running the kind of campaign a Republican needs to run to win in NY.  And this guy ought to be an inspiration to all the young Atlas posters; he was Mayor of the Village of Tivoli at AGE 19!!!

I like him.  Indeed, he's my first endorsement on Atlas for this year.

MOLINARO FOR GOVERNOR!
