Dems won the recount in SD-23.   The Dem majority will be 14-10 next year.
As expected. It's a shame Hosmer lost - if we had just one more seat, we could have amended the Constitution to add a right to vote.

F*** Jeff Woodburn to hell for his arrogance.

Very true. My gut tells me Biundo would be the best choice. He seems like he'd unify the old guard and the base, and would be much less toxic than Stepanek.
Agreed

That goes without saying. I certainly don't blame the people of Coos for voting for Starr.

Anyways, I came here to have a bit of a rant. The DARVO-ing done by the NHGOP and the Gardner Democrats (John Lynch, Jim Splaine) is absolutely insane. Most of their objections to Van Ostern, aside from babbling Republican propaganda about FITN, involve how electing CVO would "inject partisanship into the office". Of course, this completely ignores that Gardner was the one who injected partisanship into the SoS office by backing every Republican scheme to suppress Democratic votes.

If these people want to shill for a Trumpist, they should take a seat with the NHGOP. And if he wins, the NHDP needs to fund a primary to every Democrat who voted for him.'

If he wins, Gardner sounds very likely to retire after this term.

Someone hold me. I could see more defectors because of this.

To most politicians, their friendships are much more important and tangible than the impact of policy on the lives of their constituents. "I have known this man for a long time, and he is a good, respectable public servant, even if we don't always agree."

Essentially this. Most of his backers are over 70 (and remember the time where he was an actual bipartisan institution). One of them even used to teach him.

My money is on CVO narrowly winning tomorrow.

Gardner wins.

There needs to be a purge in the NHDP.

This is sad news, but at the least it seems likely this will be Gardner's final term.

@sawx: Can they remove him from this office at some point if a situation warrants it, or is this set in stone?
