I wonder if this has anything to do with the upcoming Idlib offensive in Syria ...

Maybe Putin wants to go "all-in" and send tens of thousands of them to Syria after the military exercise.

Most of the eastern military district of Russia is nowhere near Alaska.

I just love how they are wasting money as new sanctions hits them and the Ruble plummets again. (My mom, a literary editor, has just been paid, after a delay, 10 Euros by a Russian for some minor consultation, 10 Euros is, per today's count, 792.79 Ruble).

I wouldn't be surprised if it's more about China, that is slowly buying over Siberia, than the U.S, though.
