2020: Uganda (chimpanzee & mountain gorilla safari)
I suppose you've already done your research, but I humbly submit that Rwanda is a much better place to visit than is Uganda, having been to both last year. Smiley
You may be right, but Uganda is much more affordable.  Also, I'm coming to see more than just gorillas.

That's fair. When I went to Rwanda, the gorilla permit was about a quarter of what it is now, and even then it squeezed me a bit. That said, I was a whole lot more impressed with the gorilla situation (trekking right up to them and having to step back to stay the legal distance away as they approached curiously) than the chimps (up in the trees screaming and throwing stuff at you).

Actually I could do both:

These are all a "top ten," in no particular order.  Some of these are simply places that I need to get to because it's embarrassing I haven't made it there yet, LOL (e.g., Las Vegas):

DOMESTICALLY:
Boston, MA
Charleston, SC
Savannah, GA
Memphis, TN
New Orleans, LA
Austin, TX
Yellowstone National Park, WY
Las Vegas, NV
San Diego, CA
Wine Country, CA

INTERNATIONALLY:

I wanted to keep this one somewhat "realistic," taking into account ease of traveling there and safety concerns.  Also, for background: I have been to the following, so as to eliminate them from my list:

England (London & Cotswolds)
Scotland (Edinburgh)
France (Paris and various places in Normandy)
Germany (Heidelberg, Rothenburg and Munich)
Italy (Rome, Naples, various places in Tuscany)
Czech Republic (Prague)
Mexico (Cancun)
A whole lot of places in the Caribbean

So, again in no order:
Stockholm, Sweden
Copenhagen, Denmark
Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Hamburg, Germany
Berlin, Germany
Vienna, Autria
St. Petersburg, Russia
Venice, Italy
The Greek Isles
Melbourne, Australia

There are obviously several other places (Egypt, Iraq, Africa, etc.) that I think it would be super cool to visit, but I am not sure I would prioritize those places due to unstable environments.

International (been to Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Peru, Spain, The Bahamas, and several on cruises):

-UK/Ireland (probably a combo trip)
-Italy, maybe combined with Greece
-Australia/New Zealand
-Brazil/Argentina/Chile (maybe 2 trips there)
-South Africa
-China
-A more thorough trip to Mexico besides just a cruise stop in Cozumel
-Guatemala
-Israel, with a focus on key sites to Christianity, maybe combined with Egypt if it's safe

And I would love to go back to Costa Rica, which was probably my favorite trip I have ever taken (I went there three times between 12 and 14).  I would like to get better shape before I go back though because so much of the fun was being active, and I am out of shape (and probably weigh too much for the ziplines and stuff).  Another wildcard is Cuba, depending on how their political situation plays out.  The extreme wildcard is a Free North Korea in the distant future.  I would never risk going there under the Kim regime, but if it is ever a normal and safe country, seeing the history of such a brutal regime would be fascinating.

Plus, I definitely want to see Alaska and Hawaii, as well as get to all 50 states in general.

Probably a bunch more I am forgetting.

After my upcoming trip to Southeast Asia this fall, I am fairly certain of this schedule:

2020: Uganda-Rwanda (chimpanzee & mountain gorilla safari) and Ethiopia

2021: Ecuador and the Galapagos

2022: Nepal

2023: Madagascar
----------------

Beyond this list, I am not entirely sure of the exact sequence, but here is the list of countries I am interested in visiting:

Indonesia
Vietnam
Morocco
Oman
Dubai in the United Arab Emirates
Malaysia (the peninsula) & Singapore
Egypt
Sudan
Iran (once relations finally normalize between us)

And then there's West Africa.  The only thing deterring me as an American citizen are the cost of the visas I have to obtain, and the fact I have to get them separately from each country in the region.  It would be nice if there was a West African version of the East African Visa, and even that only includes three countries.

Despite the setbacks for any West African trip, these are two that I am looking at in the not-too distant future -it is a fascinating region, and I am the adventurous type always up for a challenge:

FREETOWN - ACCRA with Dragoman

and/or

Accra to Ouagadougou Overland Adventure with Overlanding West Africa

Cork, Ireland. There's just something about that city that makes me want to visit it really, really, really badly.

It's the answer to a riddle I learned as a young child. If Ireland should sink, what would float?

I would suggest to anyone looking for some spectacular scenery, the train between Denver and Glenwood Springs passes through mountains and canyons where there are no parallel roads. The Upper Gore canyon of the Colorado river is a stretch I found particularly scenic.
