They probably didn't want a repeat of the 2000 election. 2000 opened our eyes to the fact that the results of an election could be dissected for weeks before a winner was declared, and I think that upset a lot of people.

Plus, there was the way Gore fought relentlessly for every vote in Florida to be counted. What a jerk. Tongue
