Still waiting on the BoE results for district 1, but Ted Gaines is still leading by a good amount. He’ll have to resign from his senate seat soon to take that office. If Maienschein will lose - more or less "sane" Republican caucus in Assembly will, probably, be reduced to one "pragmatic conservative" - Jordan Cunningham (even Mathis and Mayes are unlikely to qualify).... Can't remember such situation in 45 years i observe US elections.

If there's just one more dump like this one, then Gover will pull ahead.  And considering AD-77 is about 16% of the county as a whole, then that's entirely possible.  Regardless, it'll be really, really close.

So I was looking at the 2020 state senate districts that will be up (all odd-numbered districts). 99% chance there will be zero vulnerable Dem-held state senate seats. Yet Republicans could still lose another 2-4 seats (21, 23, 29, and 37).

If 2020 is similar to 2018 in California, get ready for a 33D-7R state senate. And there's evidence to suggest that even if 2020 isn't a Democratic wave nationwide, California will still operate in its own world (just like 2014 and 2016). And Dems might be able to scrape 1 or 2 more seats from the GOP in the Assembly.
