Pennsylvania Primary

On April 23rd, The State of Pennsylvania will decide who to support in the Primaries, along with Delaware and their Delegates.

Scranton in Trouble

Having not picked up a single state so far and with the entrance of C. Douglas Dillon, Former Governor Scranton is under the threat of losing his Home State. Unless something changes quickly, he'll lose the state he needs to win most.

C. Douglas Dillon enters Republican Primary

Secretary of Treasury during the Kennedy Administration C. Douglas Dillon has entered the Republican Primary. whether he'll have any major effect in the Primaries remains to be seen.

Goldwater wins Wisconsin Primary, Case wins Michigan Caucus, Smith wins Minnesota Caucus

Senator Case is now the Front runner with 43 Delegates despite having not won a Primary State yet, with the Victory in the Michigan Caucus. Goldwater and Smith however have a chance to catch up due to their support in the state of Pennsylvania and Delaware.

Humphrey, McCarthy, Reagan, and Stassen out, Gore in!

After losing their home state and a lack of campaigning, Humphrey and McCarthy have dropped out of the Democratic Primaries while Stassen and Reagan have dropped out of the Republican Primaries. In order to give an effective challenge to Senator Kennedy due to the lack of campaigning from Representative Mink, Tennessee Senator Al Gore Sr, notable for voting against the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and even filibustering it, has announced his candidacy for the Democratic Nomination, with the plans to take over the Great Plains and South in order to force the Party to Nominate someone other than Kennedy at the Convention. How Kennedy can overcome this challenge is unknown, as Gore has been endorsed by all anti-Kennedy Democrats with few undecideds remaining.

Martin Luther King Jr. killed in Memphis

The leader of the Civil Rights Movement and once of the greatest men to have ever lived was killed in Memphis after causing one too many problems for the Segregationist South. How the Candidates will respond to this is unknown.

Oakland Shootout leads to several arrests and Death

A shootout between the Police of Oakland California and the Black Supremacist Group, the Black Panthers, has lead to the deaths and arrests of several people, including 17 year old Bobby Hutton.

Richmond Double Explosion kills 41, Injures another 150

A Double Explosion bombing in Richmond, Indiana has lead to the death and injury of many citizens in a very major tragedy quickly following the death of Mr. King.

Rudi Dutschke survives assassination attempt

Head of the Left-wing movement in Germany, Rudi Dutschke, has survived an assassination attempt. The Assassin later tried to commit suicide but failed and was soon captured by the police.

Springer Press HQ Protests leads to Several Arrests

Left-wing German Students blockaded Springer Press HQ has led to the arrests of several German Citizens and protestors.

President Johnson signs 1968 Civil Rights Act

The President has signed new Civil Rights Legislation, strengthening the 1964 Civil Rights Act and causing more Civil Rights to be forced on the South.

After a Victory in Wisconsin and a lack of campaigning from Senator Baker, as well as the Entrance of Dillon and the end of Stassen and Reagan's campaign, Goldwater has retaken the lead by 2% despite not having the lead in the Delegate Count. As the Primaries began to approach their end, It's down to these states and the question remains: Who will leave and who will remain by Illinois?

The Democratic Primary is heating up as Kennedy now seems unchallenged in the Democratic Primaries, though the entrance of Senator Gore could lead to several major problems for him in the future. For right now, it seems that Senator Kennedy has no real threat as of right now.

If you poll between 10% and 15%, you may run two advertisements, and if you poll below 10% but above 5%, then you can run one advertisement! Remember to diversify. Don't rely too much on TV Ads as those had only been around for a few elections, so do some Radio ads as well.

Reasoning: With Senator Case rising in the polls quickly, he is proving to be a fierce challenge to Former Governor Scranton and should Scranton not rally, his chances at winning his home state will be a loss and he will be forced out of the Republican Primary.

I have respect for Senator Robert Kennedy and his family's legacy and I am proud to have worked with him in his brother's administration. But in this campaign, we have to understand the difference between their records. I am proud to have, as Secretary of Treasury, worked with President Kennedy to cut taxes for the American people in order to encourage economic growth, which brought positive results for the economy. Thanks to President Kennedy's tax cuts, the economy accelerated and prospered, the GDP expanded by an average of 5.5% from early 1961 to late 1963, inflation was down at around 1 %, the unemployment rate declined from 6.6 % to 5.6 % during Kennedy's two years in the White House, industrial production rose by 15 % and motor vehicle sales rose by 40 %.

But here's the difference between President Kennedy and his brother Robert Francis Kennedy who is now seeking the presidency and is apparently very likely to win the Democratic nomination. Their main difference is on how to handle the economy and create jobs. Senator Kennedy wants to raise taxes and regulations on the American people and on businesses across this country, which will aweaken the economy by killing jobs, decreasing the American people's purchasing power, making America a harder place to do business and shipping businesses overseas. As we now have a 3.5 % unemployment rate, I believe we have a chance to get our country to full employment but Senator Kennedy's liberal job-killing agenda will spoil that potential through tax increases that will reduce our businesses' productivity and ability to create jobs. That's not the right answer for America. But unlike Senator Kennedy, I have the experience to handle economic issues, to create jobs and to balance the budget.

That's why I will, as President, fight to cut taxes for all the people, to champion small businesses, to open more trade through the pursuit of our quest for open markets around the world and to balance the budget, which will ensure stronger job creation and a stronger economy and lead America to a bright and prosperous future by getting us to full employment and that's why I'm asking for your vote.

On April 4, Kennedy learned of King's death on campaing in Indianapolis. He stopped to address a crowd on it hours after the assassination


I have bad news for you, for all of our fellow citizens, and people who love peace all over the world, and that is that Martin Luther King was shot and killed tonight.

Martin Luther King dedicated his life to love and to justice for his fellow human beings, and he died because of that effort.

In this difficult time for the United States, it is perhaps well to ask what kind of a nation we are and what direction we want to move in. For those of you who are black — considering the evidence there evidently is that there were white people who were responsible — you can be filled with bitterness, with hatred, and a desire for revenge. We can move in that direction as a country, in great polarization — black people amongst black, white people amongst white, filled with hatred toward one another.

Or we can make an effort, as Martin Luther King did, to understand and to comprehend, and to replace that violence, that stain of bloodshed that has spread across our land, with an effort to understand with compassion and love.

My favorite poet was Aeschylus. He wrote: "In our sleep, pain which cannot forget falls drop by drop upon the heart until, in our own despair, against our will, comes wisdom through the awful grace of God."

What we need in the United States is not division; what we need in the United States is not hatred; what we need in the United States is not violence or lawlessness; but love and wisdom, and compassion toward one another, and a feeling of justice toward those who still suffer within our country, whether they be white or they be black.

The vast majority of white people and the vast majority of black people in this country want to live together, want to improve the quality of our life, and want justice for all human beings who abide in our land.

Let us dedicate ourselves to what the Greeks wrote so many years ago: to tame the savageness of man and make gentle the life of this world.

Let us dedicate ourselves to that, and say a prayer for our country and for our people.

Margent and I are sadden and shocked at the the sudden life taking of Martin Luther King Jr.  This terrible event when went down in Memphis fuled by racism and hatred which should not anything a Amercian should hold proud to them.

We as Americans should get along with each other no matter what race or politics or religious views we have. 

Cause the most important thing we have is that we are Americans first and foremost.

Schedule for April 3-23


April 3: Kennedy met with Democratic Party leaders in Texas, once again trotting out his status as having raised the chances of a Democratic victory. He also said that he would consider a southern politician like Geroge Smathers for his running mate.

April 4: Kennedy was flying into Indiana to meet with Senator Birch Bayh to discuss strategy, but was informed by the Senator of King's assassination. He addressed a crowd on the assassination briefly, giving a heartfelt speech on the situation of civil rights, giving a solemn vow to further the rights of African-Americans.

April 5-12: Kennedy campaigned heavily in Indiana on civil rights, touting his background in defending civil rights for millions of Americans as Attorney-General. He also declared his intent to enhance the CRA and VRA. During an interview on civil rights, he blasted Gore. "Senator Gore voted for continued discrimination, to keep basic rights from millions of people.

"Are you saying Senator Gore's a racist, Senator Kennedy?"

"No, I'm not, but the racists of these country think he is."


April 13-20: Kennedy used the time to build his campaign team in the south, meeting with local black community leaders and hiring volunteers and staffers.

April 21-23: Kennedy campa8gn in Floridal once again meeting with community leaders and rallying support from the poor and minorities.

Margaret Chase Smith Campaign Schedule

Week One:


Margaret Chase Smith began her campaign with a tour of traditionally Democratic territory of Western Pennsylvania. Smith's campaign focused on a return to law and order, with a moderate approach to dealing with the protests across the country, balancing rule of law and the rights of protesters. As the campaign moved East, MCS rallied supporters on her independent record, focusing on large crowds in the suburbs. In the latter part of the week, Smith toured Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs. Smith's focus while in this region was on a return to moderation on social issues, but fiscal responsibility in the form of low taxes while expanding education and civil rights. Smith suspended a rally when learning of the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr.

Week Two:

Margaret Chase Smith returned to Washington DC to vote in favor of the Civil Rights Act, holding a press conference after, calling on a time of healing and functional order following this time of chaos. MCS re-entered the campaign trail with stops throughout Delaware, focusing on New Castle County. While on the trail, Smith rallied supporters on creating stability in Washington through tough leadership and experience. MCS returned to Pennsylvania, travelling the Philadelphia suburbs, speaking with voters on the need for strong, steady leadership, throwing barbs at the Democratic field's lack of clear leadership. Smith spent the remainder of the week touring rural Pennsylvania, speaking with farmers on strengthening the agriculture industry through free trade at home and abroad.

Dillon's « Victory » Campaign Ad

In an effort to stop Clifford Case's momentum in the upcoming primary states and to attract voters who selected foreign policy as the most important issue of this election, C. Douglas Dillon's presidential campaign broadcasts an ad attacking Clifford Case on his opposition to the Vietnam War and describing Dillon's plan to win the Vietnam War and keep America safe.

Narrator : In the last few years, Clifford Case has proven to be on the wrong side of America's national security.



After he once supported the Vietnam War, a fight aimed at stopping the communists from dominating Vietnam and at keeping America safe, Senator Case is now opposing the Vietnam War, has called the Vietnam War unwinnable and has even advocated our troops' withdrawal from Vietnam.



Instead of fighting for what's right for America and its allies, keep America safe and lead us to victory in the Cold War, Clifford Case would rather allow the USSR, the Vietcong and communists to pursue their Domino Theory, to conquer all of Asia and to use this continent as a base to invade America through land attacks here at home and through nuclear attacks, which could help them to win the Cold War. We can't let that happen.


Clifford Case, wrong and weak on foreign policy and national security.


But fortunately, C. Douglas Dillon has the best plan to win the Vietnam War. As former U.S. Ambassador to France and as former Under Secretary of State in the Eisenhower Administration, he has the best foreign policy experience to lead America to victory.


As President, Dillon will further reinforce and modernize our military in order to ensure our troops' readiness against the Vietcong and he will order a U.S. military land offensive against North Vietnam from the South China Sea in order to capture Hanoi (the capital of North Vietnam which is close from the coast), thus forcing North Vietnam, the Vietcong and their allies to surrender and handing victory to America and its allies. That's how we're going to stop the Domino Theory, stop the Asian continent from becoming a Soviet base to attack America and lead the United States and their allies to victory in the Cold War.

Goldwater campaign update 1

Goldwater campaigned on the Gold Standard and his tax cut plan.  He also campaigned on his Vietnam Plan that would involve a complete combat troop withdrawal from Vietnam entirely while leaving non combat troops in to train the South Vietnamese army and their allies.

There is a silver lining for the Smith Campaign as they carry the State of Delaware and it's Caucuses. Now for the Delegate Breakdown. Of Pennsylvania's 64 Delegates, 36 goes to Case, 15 Goes to Goldwater, 10 Goes to Dillon, and 3 goes to Smith. Of Delaware's 12, Smith gets 7, Dillon gets 3, and Goldwater and Case each get one. Thus, tonight, each candidate gets these number of Delegates:

Thank you so very much my friends.

I did not expect such a strong performance. We may not have won tonight but with this strong third place finish, I consider it as a victory. We knocked on doors of millions of Pennsylvanians in order to bring our message of hope and optimism calling for prosperity for all Americans through the promotion of tax reform and free enterprise and calling for a strong America through a strong military and strong alliances in order to win the Vietnam War and the Cold War.

Thanks to my experience, we're going to move America forward, create jobs and prosperity, keep us safe and defend the Civil Rights of all Americans and we can't do it without your support. That's why we will give everything we got in the remaining primary states and together we will win this nomination and the Presidency of the United States.

April 24th-30th




Massachusetts Primary

On April 30th, the state of Massachusetts will vote on who to support while the same can be said for the states of Delaware and Rhode Island when they hold their caucuses on the same day. It's likely that Goldwater would not be even close to winning one of the three states and thus it will be a contest between Dillon, Smith, and Case.

Case now the Front-runner, Strong start for Dillon

After winning in Pennsylvania, Senator Case of New Jersey has won the state of Pennsylvania but now he faces a threat as former Secretary of Treasury Dillon has done astoundingly well in the Primary. With Dillon's home state now in the sights of all three contestants and the winner could determine who will remain in the primary.

South declares themselves for Gore in Pre-emptive move

In a pre-emptive move, in the Democratic Caucus States in the South have all declared themselves for Senator Gore, with all Delegates of those states going to him in order to prevent Kennedy from getting a single Delegate. as such, Senator Gore has caught up to Senator Kennedy with 336 Delegates now and 13 States. Senator Kennedy has yet to respond to this move but it's likely that he has been greatly agitated by it.

Baker/Mink/Mansfield Out

After not doing well in the last few primaries and being visibly off the campaign trail, Senator Howard Baker has dropped out of the Republican Primaries, though it's unknown if he'll endorse anyone. Thus, the Republican contest is down to four. At the same time, Representative Mink has dropped out of the Democratic Primaries and it's quite likely she'll endorse Senator Kennedy in an effort to stop Senator Gore before the Convention. Finally, the Senate Majority Leader has dropped out of an Independent run though the reasons remain unknown and instead he said he would stay out of the election and just hold his position of Senate Majority Leader.



Vietnam Protest at Columbia University

Student protesters at Columbia University in New York City take over administration buildings and shut down the university.



Republicans Nationally:

Case: 26%
Smith: 24%
Dillon: 22%
Goldwater: 19%
Undecided: 9%

Now, with the field down to four, a close race has developed as Senator Case now stands as the precarious front-runner against three strong opponents. Meanwhile, with the next three states out of reach for Goldwater, the 1964 Republican Nominee has instead decided to focus on the states he believes he could win, such as the South and Plains States. With the field now being a real contest, the nominee remains a mystery and could remain that way until after the convention.



Democrats Nationally

Kennedy: 64%
Gore: 31%
Undecided: 5%

With only 2 Candidates in the Primaries remaining and the massive boost due to the South pre-emptive support, Gore is now a strong opponent to Senator Kennedy and could effectively cause a stall in the Convention unless Senator Kennedy can landslide massively in several primaries and caucuses, not just in the North East.

A schedule is required. You can post 20 speeches or no speeches, but what is required for you to post is your schedule. It doesn't have to be detailed, just give me a short description of each day's (or week's) events.

Advertisements: if you poll more than 15% nationally, you may run three advertisements. If you poll between 10% and 15%, you may run two advertisements, and if you poll below 10% but above 5%, then you can run one advertisement! Remember to diversify. Don't rely too much on TV Ads as those had only been around for a few elections, so do some Radio ads as well.

The State Polling, Regional Strength, Candidate Notoriety, Organization, and Funding will all be posted later.
