Okay, do any of our Massachusetts avatars (or anyone in general) on here know anything about this place in Essex County; more specifically how Hillary became the first Democrat to carry it since 1972?

2016: Clinton 47.93% - Trump 42.85% = D+ 5.08
2012: Romney 58.63% - Obama 39.92% = R+ 18.71
2008: McCain 52.08% - Obama 46.04% =R+ 6.04
2004: Bush 55.55% - Kerry 43.04% = R+ 12.51
2000: Bush 52.26% - Gore 40.78% - Nader 3.05% = R+ 3.05%
1996: Dole 50.58% - Clinton 39.73% - Perot 8.07% = R+ 10.85
1992: Bush 44.43% - Clinton 29.47% - Perot 25.15% = R+ 14.96
1988: Bush 66.16% - Dukakis 32.18% = R+ 33.98
1984: Reagan 74.73% - Mondale 25.17% = R+ 49.56
1980: Reagan 61.41% - Carter 20.20% - Anderson 17.29% = R+ 41.21
1976: Ford 68.08% - Carter 28.49% - McCarthy 2.59% = R+ 39.59
1972: Nixon 71.00% - McGovern 28.66% = R+ 42.34

At first I thought it could be just another place full of #NeverTrump Republicans, but Trump won the town (albeit with a plurality) with 43.24 percent of the vote with Kasich (24.81%), Rubio (18.77%), Cruz (8.92%), Carson (2.19%), Bush (0.81%) rounding out most of the rest.

It also voted against Hillary both times in the 2008 (Obama won it narrowly by just under 2 percent) and 2016 (Sanders won it with 52.85 percent to her 46.31 percent) Democratic primaries, so it's not exactly a pro-Hillary place.

It does have a higher median household income than the state as a whole, so is this place similar to many of the Romney 1 percenters towns that flipped blue/Atlas red due to distaste with Trump? That's a long streak to break though.

So what's going on here, or am I just reading too much into it?

Boxford is a few towns up from me and I know quite a few people who live there, so I feel like I’m pretty equipped about their politics. Boxford has always been home to a large moderate Republican population, it was a very good town for Baker. Some moderate Boxford republicans have moved away from the GOP, but more importantly there has been a large infusion of younger more liberal families into the town. That has mattered more than Republicans fleeing their party. It’s a large bedroom community for Boston.

I've lived in MA my whole life, and went to college about 15 minutes away from there before transferring. Andover is near it, and is a very wealthy area. That's all I could tell you lol. Classic Conservative is spot on though.
