Megis County, Ohio actually achieves all of those swings, except from Obama to Clinton.

According to Wikipedia, they've gone R every year since 2000.

A gay Republican who got turned off by Bush calling for an anti-SSM constitutional amendment in 2004, and turned on by Obama's endorsement of SSM in 2012, and who just knew that Trump was trouble.

Describe someone who voted for Bush, Kerry, McCain, Obama, and Clinton in that order.

Voters like that are racist isolationists/hawks who prioritize foreign policy in their voting, but who also take into account their racism.

Voted for Bush '00 because they wanted an isolationist foreign policy, not Clintonian "nation building" that Bush criticized in the campaign. Prior to 9/11, Bush was not considered a neocon or a Hawk.

Voted for Kerry '04 because they were upset about Bush's Iraq war and wanted it to end, and stop nation building in the middle east.

Voted for McCain '08 because Obama was Black and, remember, this is a racist voter we are talking about here. Although they would have preferred Obama on foreign policy, they just couldn't stomach voting for the first Black President, and rather would risk McCain's wars.

Voted for Obama '12 because, having had him as President for 4 years, they had grown sufficiently used to him to be able to overcome their racism and return to their normal prioritization of foreign policy as the #1 voting issue. They were afraid that Romney would start a war with Iran, in particular.

Voted for Clinton '16 because they were most concerned about Trump's unpredictability on foreign policy and were afraid that he might accidentally start a nuclear war due to the fact that he is incompetent and entirely willfully uninformed. This voter also supported the Iran nuclear deal and preferred Clinton for that reason, and was afraid Trump might get into war with Iran like Romney. This was a tough decision for this voter, however, because Clinton's foreign policy was hardly ideal from their perspective either. But Trump was definitely higher variance, with a greater potential downside. The fact that Trump is racist, however, came close to tipping them to Trump. But after having survived Obama, the voter decided to not make racism be their #1 voting issue like in 2008 - and in any case, Clinton was white.

A moderate Republican from NJ who approved of Obama's hurricane Sandy response and then voted for Hillary as the lesser of two evils.

An independent voter like me, with nuanced positions on a range of issues, who came to the opposite conclusion about Trump and Clinton than I did.

My mother came very close to being this voter.

She was planning on voting for McCain in 2008 but decided not to after Palin joined the ticket and flamed out spectacularly.
