A New Era-Diplomatic Strategy Game

Welcome to 2018. We live in both a chaotic and interesting time, from  the rise of right wing populism in Europe and elsewhere to the growing diplomatic unrest between NAFTA countries, the fallout from Brexit and Brexit negotiations, potential denuclearization by North Korea, unrest in the Middle East and the continued rise of Russia and China this game will test players as they attempt to navigate their countries to continued strength and trimupth through this chaotic era.

Game Rules
1. Players will sign up for a country and will act as that countries current leader. Besides navigating diplomatic crisis players will need to ensure they remain popular at home to either win re-election if their country is a democracy or avoid a coup if they are in a dictatorship. A game over will result if a player loses power in their country either by defeat in a election, non confidence motion, coup/revolution, death or impeachment. Signups will be by a first come first serve basis. I encourage players to choose countries with a significant diplomatic influence. Players will also face a game over if their country is defeated in war. We will assume that term limits do not exist for any Country for game purposes.

2. Each turn players will have 1 week to respond to events and crisis as posted by myself and submit any actions they wish to take in that turn. Turns will cover a 3 month time period but the time period may be reduced in time of global war. First turn will run tell the end of December 31st 2018. We will also have a simulated UN where countries can propose and pass resolutions. At the beginning of each turn I will post economic indicators for each country along with the risk that leader has of losing power along with key global events that gave occurred.

3. All counties not played by anyone will be simulated by myself.

4. All in game messages sent between players must include myself to be considered valid. Orders do not need to be posted publicly and can instead be PMd privately to myself.

I would prefer if you took Palestine. Every turn I will post an update on global news events along with crisis that you will have to respond to. You can take additional actions each turn (Such as pass new laws/regulations in your country, sign/negotiate treaties/trade agreements with other countries, levy sanctions on other countries, declare war on other countries among other things. Essentially your acting as the leader of the country/region you choose.)

It will be difficult to find someone who is both willing and able to play Trump.

Also anyone playing May is likely to not last long.

If I were to play, it'd be as Modi, but I don't have time for this.

Someone ought to play Trump, so I accept the challenge. Smiley

So 1184AZ have worked out a compromise. I'm posting it here so everyone knows why I'm playing as Bill Shorten and not Scott Morrison

One thing I should mention.

Australia's next election is scheduled next year, and it's pretty much inevitable that the incumbent Liberal Party will lose. It doesn't really seem fair that I would get a game over so quickly, so may I propose an alternate solution:

Scott Morrison, after winning the leadership spill over Peter Dutton and Julie Bishop, calls for a snap election to settle once and for all who is to be PM. Labor ends up winning the election, ending up with 90 seats. The Coalition takes 55, and the rest are occupied by independents and minor parties.

The reasons for the numbers are based on the Newspoll "If an election were held today" prediction. The resultant 5.5% swing to Bill Shorten's Labor Party would leave them with 90 of the 150 seats.
Sure I can agree to that.

Okay then, we go with that idea.
Can you please post your initial PM and my response in this thread (https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=302028.msg6424563#msg6424563) so everyone else knows the agreement for transparency sake.
